Know what Jackie? I go back more than 60 years as a Hibby. Know the last time Hibs finished second in the top league? 1974-75 with Turnbull's Tornadoes. I used to watch them. Know what else? In the 51 seasons that have passed since that "great day", Hibs have finished 2nd zero times (obviously). They've finished 3rd five times. Know what else? Hearts have finished 2nd five times, and they've finished 3rd ten times. So they've finished 2nd the same number of times we've finished 3rd, and they've finished 3rd twice as many times as we have. One of the many reasons for this is that there is a sizeable element in our support who don't just tolerate mediocrity, they actively celebrate it.
