A stealthy solar storm launches between fast wind streams which helps aurora photographers this week. We say goodbye to Region 4551 and 4557, giving radio & GPS operators a short break from radio blackouts on Earth's dayside. Two more solar storms plus some fast solar wind will impact Earth over the next couple of days, continuing this week's storming and extending aurora chances through October 14. I will do a storm impact wrap up and discuss what's next in my full forecast, out later this week.

Faccia a faccia con il tornado di stamattina a sud di Marsala, nelle sue fasi finali. Direi che ha fornito sufficiente materiale per lavorare tutto il weekend e oltre

Well, this was NOT expected! Depending on the orientation of the Bz and assuming the field strength holds, we could see G3 or even G4-level storming from this event! It’s too early to say what is in store for North America, but I’d have everything prepared for tonight just in case.

Our Sun continues to dazzle with an M6.7-flare from Region 4549! Radio operators are still feeling the effects from this R2-level radio blackout on the dayside of Earth. It also launched a solar storm. This is now the fourth big solar storm headed towards Earth. Expect more to come from this highly unstable region. It could continue firing like this until it disappears behind the west limb!

G1 (Minor) to G2 (Moderate) geomagnetic storms are likely on 09 Oct with the arrival of a CME that was associated with a M1.4 flare from Active Region 4549 on 06 Oct. A high chance for additional M-class flare activity from Region 4549 will persist in the coming days.
