The emancipation of enslaved people became real not when it was proclaimed by Lincoln but when it was enforced by the Union Army on Juneteenth. Hence the celebration.
An activist federal government, which you’ve spent your pitiful career opposing, is an essential enforcer of civil rights. The Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act succeeded where Reconstruction failed because of federal activism.
Juneteenth is not a “race-based competitor” with July 4th.
July 4th commemorates the Declaration of Independence.
Juneteenth commemorates the enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation.
Only a MAGA Republican, who spends more time banning books than reading them, would see a contradiction between the two.
