In this edition of our Alumni Spotlight series we feature former @49ers OLB with a @CFL Hall of Fame like career, @davedbenefield. A relentless edge rusher, the 3-time CFL All-Star tied a league record with 5 sacks in a game, and finished his career with 77. Dubbed "Mr. Furious", he took his talents to the Bay Area for a season before returning to the CFL. Off the field, Daved was an outstanding analyst covering CFL games for both Sportsnet and CBC, and is now coaching high school ball in Southern California while working for RAW Sports. He continues to run the annual Kitsfest RedZone Rivals Beach Football event in Vancouver each summer, while his Saturday nights are spent watching his son, @BenefieldTy do his thing playing Safety at @LSUfootball.
My great coach John Cicuto, DC/DB @GlendaleCollege. He sent DBs to Georgia, USC, Bama, Texas A&M. Safety didn’t stick for me but gave me an athletic edge as OLB/DE. I passed his coaching on to others even my son Ty @LSUfootball he’s way better S- than dad. Thanks Coach

Now 3yo Nevada aka Young Pele is about to be a bigger star thanks to a league official in Winter Park, FL calling the cops.
He’s about to be on TV everywhere, and a possible guest of MLS, Premiere League & other Major League Sports.
Heck, have the parents reach out to me, I can get free soccer lessons arranged.

BREAKING: In a stunning and rare political moment, former President Bill Clinton just HUMILIATED Donald Trump for trying to turn our allies like Canada into our enemies. We need more of this energy.
Great job kid.
Ty Benefield is adjusting to the star role and bringing the hammer for LSU’s defense.
• Moved to star (hybrid LB/DB) after Dashawn Spears’ season-ending injury
• Third on the team with 30 tackles, plus 1 sack, 1 interception, and 2 pass breakups
• Former Boise State All-Mountain West safety (107 tackles in 2025)
• Says he enjoys being closer to the line: “You can pull the trigger faster… and bring the hammer”
The veteran transfer is stepping up exactly when LSU needs it. Geaux Tigers.

The tiger involved in the incident at Yorkshire Wildlife Park will not be euthanised, according to the park, after a man entered its enclosure and was killed
The tiger will be allowed to live, as it was not at fault for acting according to its natural instincts

Ty Benefield lore: He said he wanted “the smoke” when he moved from Canada to Cali to chase a scholarship.
After playing JV snaps much of his junior season, his breakout play came in the final regular-season game.
It was a catch-and-run through fog to set up a game-winning TD.
Five years ago, LSU's Ty Benefield was an 11th-grade transfer from Canada volunteering for JV snaps at a California H.S.
Now, he's an NFL prospect chasing Heisman hopefuls in the SEC.

Canadian Ty Benefield runs downhill like a peregrine falcon diving for its prey. Ole Miss OL misses assignments on his sack + he QUICKLY pressured Chambliss earlier from 5 yds depth to force an INT.
Vancouver's own also played bumper cars w/ WRs in coverage.
