On one of @twilio engineering teams, AI now writes most of the code, shifting the hard part of the job from writing it to reviewing it.
For engineering leaders, code review becomes the real constraint on shipping.
We spoke with @rsanghavi , Director of Engineering at Twilio, at ELC Annual 2026.
One of his teammates generated 60 to 70 PRs in three to four days, far more than anyone can review.
“The shift has become from writing code to reviewing code. The biggest bottleneck is code review.”
His fix is to let strong tests decide what ships, so the team keeps releasing safely as generated code climbs.

Looking at some @larridin data from September.
The employees getting the most out of AI don't just use it frequently, they use it for many types of work.
Only 20% of employees used AI for five or more types of work. But they delivered nearly 60% of the value and productivity gains from AI.
Those who used AI for five or more kinds of work saved about six hours per week. About 20 times the impact of those who used it for only one kind of work, and saved only 15 minutes.
Even when two people had the same number of AI conversations per week, the ones who used AI for more kinds of work still got more out of it.
For leaders this means you should be pushing your people to continue pushing themselves to continue finding uses for AI.
