This is true. European salaries are and always have been abysmal. No amount of work life balance justifies this level of discrepancy. Is it just weak bargaining power or some systemic issue?
Whenever I see programmer salary numbers from Europe, I always have to do a double take. It's hard to fathom that we work in the same industry. With bonuses this year, many of our folks are at $400,000+, and we're not even in any AI-hype sector.

1/🧵 Could Trump's massive 2025 #tariffs accidentally supercharge #crypto adoption? The "Liberation Day" trade war was meant to bring manufacturing home, but it might be building bridges to a decentralized financial future instead...

10/ What do you think? Are we watching trade wars accidentally fast-track our digital financial future? Could the attempt to reassert national economic control be the very thing that undermines it?

Vibe coders soon going to buy subscriptions to software consultants to fix their shit

What most people don't understand is that more bad code is open source than good code. So when someone is "vibe coding", they are effectively writing terrible code mashed together by a hallucinating LLM with an "AI" sticker. Also considering most vibe coders are beginners, they fail to spot not only bad coding practices but also security vulnerabilities that is actively being written into their project. It is a dumpster fire fuelled by jet fuel. Personally, AI has only helped me solve common problems. It has been a good search engine that has saved me hours having to go through stackoverflow or other forums. But as soon as I have a complex, specific problem that needs solving, none of the latest LLMs (Claude 3.7, R1, GPT 4.5) work. And no its not about how the question was framed or prompt was created. If there is little material out there, AI hasn't been trained on it and it cannot help you. So essentially, vibe coding is only good for putting up simple static sites that serve a very specific purpose. It gets difficult and risky as soon as you branch out into more complex setups that require a backend, an API, auth, etc. But maybe one day it will get better.
