Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the Downing Street. One is from London, another is from Birmingham and the third is from Manchester. All three go with a Downing Street official to examine the fence. The London contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about £900. £400 for materials, £400 for my crew, and £100 profit for me." The Birmingham contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for £700. £300 for materials, £300 for my crew, and £100 profit for me." The Manchester contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the Downing Street official and whispers, "£2,700." The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?" The Manchester contractor whispers back, "£1000 for me, £1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Birmingham to fix the fence." "Done!" replies the government official. And that, my friends, is how our government works. It may be funny but, sadly, it's also very accurate.

Jesus, and you wonder why people don’t trust the police, pretending to be run over by a car 😳
This footage is going to become a big headache for the police. A police officer appears to pretend he has been hit by a car. Seconds later, the elderly man behind the wheel is dragged out of the vehicle and thrown to the ground. How are the public supposed to trust the police to enforce the law when incidents like this happen? This needs investigating properly, and if the footage is as it appears, there must be accountability for every officer involved.

Fair fucks 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Well said Simon Jordan - who points out some inconvenient truths on illegal migration. And no, his commentary isn’t racist. He’s simply saying in blunt terms what millions of people are saying up and down the country. And no, they aren’t racist either.

A couple of frustrations observations- we’ve been absolutely toothless from corners for years but nothing is done about it, George Campbell’s forward passing is a game of Russian roulette, for all his decent attributes this poor attribute puts us under pressure #wba

Out classed in today’s game I’m afraid, no shame being 2nd best sometimes, just learn from it and move forward, we’re young enough & hungry enough to improve, overall it’s a positive start to the season, no knee jerk reaction required just because it’s a local derby #wba

When directly asked “are you in favour of male teachers watching young girls getting changed for swimming”… …The SCHOOLS STANDARDS MINISTER @Georgia_Gould responded by spluttering, stammering and um/er. She then whaffled unrelated nonsense about nursery children & nappies. 1) She claims not to know the full details of the story. Yet this was a story across much of the national press *that day*. It spans her remit, why isn’t she across her basic brief? 2) How can anyone, who answers anything other than an immediate *NO* to that question, be anywhere near school standards? I despair at what this country is becoming and I don’t want moronic people like this, anywhere near my child’s education. Sadly, the sector is full of ‘em 🤦🏼‍♀️

Fucking perverts plain & simple, anyone with a fucking brain and/or a moral compass know this is wrong, only perverse people think it’s ok, maybe the @NSPCC is run by pervs…..??? 🤷🏻‍♂️
Nick Ferrari was left STUNNED on @LBC as School Standards Minister Georgia Gould defended the NSPCC change and could not bring herself to rule out male teachers watching young girls get changed. Ferrari: “Are you in favour of female teachers watching boys change for swimming and vice versa?” Gould: “If the right safeguards are in place for younger children then that, that…” Ferrari cuts her off, visibly shocked: “What? Male teachers watching young girls change for swimming? You’re comfortable with that?” She doubled down. As long as “safeguards” are in place, it’s basically fine. She even compared it to male nursery staff changing her child’s nappy. This is the School “Standards” Minister. Labour keep proving they have no “standards” left. Just when you think it cannot get worse, and that Andy Burnham might drag a bit of common sense back, a minister is on national radio defending this. Girls are entitled to privacy from adult males when they get changed. That is not complicated. It is basic safeguarding. Totally unacceptable!

Can’t see what he’s doing wrong here 🤷🏻‍♂️ it’s nice to see managers interacting with fans after a good win (unless it’s Nathan Jones)
Not just Davies, but managers making post match celebrations all about them is a real negative in modern football, of which there are many

Evenly matched game today draw fair result, we lacked an incisive forward passer & someone that can break the lines, Phillips outstanding, Collyer tidy, Nzingoula bit sloppy with passing, hard working performance overall but we just lacked any real cutting edge #WBA #QPR

This might be one of the most remarkable ways I’ve ever seen football keep someone in the game 👏 Former Middlesbrough and Burnley player Gary Parkinson suffered a devastating stroke in 2010 that left him with locked-in syndrome. He was fully conscious, but unable to move or speak. Yet his football brain was completely intact ⚽️✅ So his former teammate and then-Middlesbrough manager, Tony Mowbray, found a way to keep him involved. Gary would watch footage of potential signings and, with help from his family, give his scouting verdict using between one and four blinks. That detail is incredible 🙌 Today, two of Gary’s former clubs, Middlesbrough and Burnley, face each other, with supporters being urged to get behind fundraising for his 24-hour care. Football gives you far more than a job. For so many people, it becomes part of who you are. Never be too quick to judge what somebody still has to offer ❤️ (📸 theboltonnews)
