There's lots of discussion about a16z dropping the word 'crypto'.
It's actually a sign of crypto winning. It's outgrown being a standalone sector and now runs through global finance and frontier tech: payments, trading, tokenization, AiFi, and much more.
We've spent more than a decade building this industry to make it useful everywhere, and we should welcome it escaping its own category. People used to say 'internet companies' - which is a prehistoric phrase now. Eventually, calling something a 'crypto company' should feel just as redundant.
Many of us (including me) will keep the word. But the millions, and soon billions, using it every day won't care what we call it.
They'll care what it lets them do.

Excited to work with Mastercard to enable agentic commerce, with x402, @CoinbaseDev, and @base.
Agentic finance is going to transform the economy, as agents continue to get more work done on our behalf.
Mastercard is now helping agents pay for digital services.
Coinbase provides the agentic payments infrastructure to power each @Mastercard agent using @Cloudflare. Powered by x402 and the Coinbase facilitator.
If you’re building in agentic commerce, let’s talk.

THE BLOCK: Coinbase, which holds about 5% of BTC supply, published technical priorities for Bitcoin's post-quantum transition, urging early preparation for signature upgrades and fund migration that could take years.
The exchange favors flexible designs such as P2MR (BIP-360) and staged protection, and says debates over abandoned coins can proceed in parallel without delaying post-quantum signature work.

Every business needs a stablecoin strategy.
The ones that move first will win customers.

Thanks for your participation as our panel speaker! It was really insightful session regarding the stablecoin in Korea & Global.
Looking forward to working with Base Korea team for building the healthier Ethereum Korea community together.
Thank you to @youbin_kang, @jaymayday_eth, and the entire @ethereumkoreaio team for an amazing event.
Ethereum’s community in Korea has often felt fragmented. Just as the Ethereum Korea logo incorporates Republic of Korea’s Taegeuk, it’s wonderful to see @ethereumkoreaio becoming a shared platform that brings the broader community together.
I hope Ethereum Korea, @daehan_base, and @base can help Korean institutions embrace an open, programmable financial system and modernize the country’s financial infrastructure. I look forward to working together to increase economic freedom for our generation.

We published the Day 1 report from Ethereum Korea One: Genesis.
49 pages. 14 sessions. 140 institutions in one room in Seoul: what Korean banks, brokers and global asset managers actually asked.
Three takeaways:
• Institutions ask about control first
• Korea's bottleneck isn't tech, it's regulation, accounting and business case
• Demand before chains

I don’t know anyone more focused on technical and business performance than @brian_armstrong. Yet more proof that open models push the performance boundary for all models.
We were able to fine tune an open weight model (Qwen3.5-9B) on proprietary internal data at @coinbase, and it out performed frontier models, at much lower cost and speed, for a specialized task (fraud prevention in this case).
I think we'll see more of this pattern inside companies. The frontier models are amazing generalists. But increasingly you'll see specialist models out perform on more narrow tasks, either working on teams, or by themselves.
We're making it easy to fine tune models internally for our employees. We even have a skill for it in our internal harness that makes it easy to spin these up and start training them:
"/fine-tune-and-serve-llm I want to fine-tune Qwen for payments risk review. help me get started"
I imagine we'll have some backend services that could be replaced entirely by this new architecture.

Now that we have tokenized stocks onchain, we should have builders on:
1) borrow/lend markets, where users can get yield by lending stock or pay yield by shorting stock
2) structured products and RFQ platforms for:
- FCNs (long bond short put)
- BENs (long OTM call, long digital, short put)
- Spreads (long/short diff strikes)
- Accu/Decu (series of forwards)
And ideally on an underlying basket of 3-4 equities
