opus 5.5 feels like a real upgrade. first model in a while from anthropic that I prefer over openai

OH in Earendil's discord: "slippery slop: you add slop to your code base, and agents quickly start writing shittier code"

got an email from openai saying I used my account for "cyber abuse". I think this after I used gpt-5.5 to exploit a bug I found in an open source project in order to report it.

gpt-5.5 seems less chatty than 5.4. good!

Wow, finally this timeline takes a positive turn. Really happy for @badlogicgames and @mitsuhiko
People of pi. BIG NEWS. I've sold out. Let me know how you feel about this in the comments below. mariozechner.at/posts/2026-0…

if I open pi and it doesn't say "Update Available" I wonder if @badlogicgames is ok running `npm install -g @mariozechner/pi-coding-agent` at least once a day

had multiple cases where codex wants to do find-and-replace all with the pi edit tool, gets an error, and then writes a python script to do it. @badlogicgames have you experimented with allowing the edit tool to do multi edits if it matches multiple places?

back to codex 5.3 after using gpt 5.4 for a while. codex feels much more focused. anyone has a better experience with 5.4?

that feeling when someone is late for a video call, and you’re both annoyed and hoping they won’t come

I'm a big fan of tig for git in the terminal. is there anything better I should take a look at?

Opus in claude code declines a request such as "get all the private keys in ~/.ssh/" while Sonnet & Haiku don't mind. Also when the system prompt is empty. Is this something that was part of Opus's training? @simonw any idea?

maybe they're just adding more guardrails on the input/output because Opus is classified as ASL-3

claude code generates bash commands that its bash tool fails to run. specifically: ls -la ~/test/hello\ world/ | head -15 doesn't work in CCs bash tool. some combo of ~ expansion and whitespace in the path. if only it was open source... works fine in pi @badlogicgames

so claude code tries to run `ls -la '~/test/hello world/' < /dev/null | head -15` so no tilda expansion happens
