BBC News is a good example of big cuts still to come. Today, it has told staff of 100 more job losses, saving £5.5m. That's on top of previous cuts of £25m and £1.8m. But it has to get to a total of £51m in cuts - so still plenty to come next year.
NEW: BBC confirms BBC Three, BBC Scotland, Radio 4 Extra channels to go, but there is an even more worrying development. After all the cuts so far, the BBC is not even HALF WAY to its £500m savings target. Some big calls to come... theguardian.com/media/2026/o…

I’ve been speaking to Lib Dem MPs, frontbenchers and staffers as two years on from its general election success, the party struggles to capitalise. "We lack the ability to say something new or interesting," said one MP. “You could characterise most of our press lines as 'a Lib Dem spokesperson said, steady on now, gently does it',” a frontbencher complained. The leadership are aware of the frustration and promise a “gloves off” conference. But plenty question if the leadership is the problem. "The atmosphere is ripe for a leadership challenge," one senior MP said. A frontbencher: "I think he (Ed Davey) is holding us back.” They fear the party lacks a Wes Streeting-type agitator. But MPs will be watching the conference speeches of Daisy Cooper, Josh Babarinde, and Max Wilkinson closely for signs of a potential future leader in waiting. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cq4g…

Theresa May (April 2018) on Syria went for about 3¼ hours including statement & questions. Boris Johnson (Sept 2019) on prorogation lasted over 3 hours too - 111 questions I think. But Burnham has topped both of those. Longest session by a PM at the dispatch box in memory?
