We're looking forward to exciting new research in CRWO from @davidcross100, who's been awarded funding from the @CIPD's Mick Marchington Applied Research Grant to study the relationship between HR practice and the self-employed. Congratulations David! @SotonBusiness @Workfutures
A retweet both to promote the great resources...but also so that I don’t forget it!
Qualitative researchers: what are your favorite articles about doing qualitative research? (Not articles based on qual studies, but articles about methods!) #soctwitter
Can’t believe I’m at a conference where 2 different people criticised a researcher for ‘only’ having 46 interviews on meaningful work. Same old arguments of ‘generalisability’....and a survey of Uber drivers (by Uber) was cited as better. Didn’t think that actually ever happened.

Fascinating day at @IPSEwestminster policy conference and launch of @Demos free radicals report. Great speakers and interesting ideas on self-employment and future of work. Onto the global workshop on SE and freelancing today and tomorrow. @BathSofM
I raised this yesterday with @BathSofM MBA class; where is HR in this? Lots of SE work in orgs (but not employed by them). They are ‘human resources’ but don’t come into contact with HR Depts. Should HR be involved with SE/freelancers. Can they be involved? @CIPD #IPSEpc2018

Yes, we chose to be self-employed but for different reasons. There are millions of us. Some chose benefits of flexible working, some because services dont fit traditional employment & some because unemployment is the altenative. #IPSEpc18 @KwasiKwarteng @IPSEwestminster

I am usually a strong defender of politics but this empty, choreographed, stale, boring Tory campaign essentially implies we are all idiots.

It seems as though the additional risk that the self-employed take on isn't fully understood/valued by the chancellor... #Budget2017 (1/2)

If someone's political stance requires preventing scientists from informing you about your own planet, that's not politics, it's oppression.
