After a disappointing week, it's nice to share some good news - my article for @HistoricalJnl is getting published in next month's issue! cambridge.org/core/journals/… #histmed #emohist #histSTM #twitterstorians
The article explores the experiences of pacifist volunteers who volunteered to be infested with parasites in a study of infectious disease transmission during WWII - and uses their unusual bodily labours to think about the politics of everyday life in wartime Britain.
(It's also Open Access - thanks to funding from @wellcometrust - so no excuse not to download it and add it to your already-terrifyingly-full 'to read' folder of PDFs)
Looking for some reading suggestions! Any recommendations for studies that deal with historical failures, disappointments, dead-ends, events/movements that don’t lead where their originators hoped - and why they might still be worth exploring?
After yesterday's webinar, my time with @SurgicalEmotion has come to an end! A huge thanks to @MedHistoryMan for the opportunity to work on such a brilliant and varied project. Some highlights:
Finally, yesterday's webinar on the challenges involved in securing high-quality surgery and post-op care for patients experiencing homelessness provided a brilliant end to my involvement in the project - with hopefully more work on the subject to come.
Many thanks again to @MedHistoryMan and my predecessors @agnesjuliet and @alison_moulds for making this such a great project to work on!
Really grateful to all the people who came to this afternoon's webinar - and to our wonderful speakers for offering their time, experience, and expertise. #surgery #homelessness
A huge thank you to everyone who attended today's webinar on surgery and homelessness, as well as our brilliant speakers Sam Dorney-Smith, Alan Grandison, and @SukhSDubb!
