I want to speak to you directly about what happened.
Bottom line - your money is safe, and we're covering every loss.
Our initial investigation suggests this security incident may have started with a compromised DevOps engineer's laptop. That gave an attacker access to a service container, where they submitted unauthorized withdrawal transactions.
To be clear: the attacker did not simply use one engineer's permissions, and this was not a single "one-click" action. It involved a more complex attack process. Our investigation has not attributed responsibility to any individual.
So far, we have found no evidence of any wallet private key leak.
We'll share a detailed technical post-mortem once the investigation is complete and every fact is verified - and publish an updated Proof of Reserves once remediation is complete.
What you need to know:
• Your funds are safe
• Binance will cover all losses from the SAFU fund and company funds
• Estimated total impact: ~$6.3B, with ~$3B frozen on-chain so far, in coordination with our blockchain partners
• No evidence of any wallet private key leak
• Deposits are unaffected and operating as normal
What we've done:
• Temporarily suspended withdrawals while we complete a security revamp of the withdrawal service and its related addresses
• Revoked the affected address authorizations
• Engaged law enforcement and blockchain intelligence partners to trace and recover funds
Our team hasn't stopped. We're working closely with law enforcement to ensure the matter is handled appropriately - and I'll share what I can, as soon as I can.

To whoever hacked BINANCE:
You may be celebrating. You discovered a vulnerability, executed the exploit, and walked away with $1.45 billion in Bitcoin and $875 million in ETH
But what you actually acquired isn't just bitcoin. You acquired one of the most heavily monitored UTXO sets on the planet.
Every forensic blockchain company has already tagged those outputs.
Every exchange, institutional custodian, compliance provider, and investigator will be watching where those coins move. CoinJoin, cross-chain bridges, mixers, peel chains, OTC desks, privacy tools... none of them magically erase history. Blockchain analysis in 2026 is far more sophisticated than many people realize.
What many hackers fail to appreciate is that Bitcoin has no statute of limitations. Every transaction you make from this moment forward becomes part of a permanent public record. Twenty years from now, the blockchain will still contain the complete history of every satoshi you moved. The data isn't going anywhere.
Forensic tools won't stand still either. Machine learning models, address clustering techniques, exchange intelligence, leaked databases, KYC records, seized servers, surveillance footage, IP logs, phone metadata, travel records, and future analytical methods that don't even exist today can all be combined retrospectively.
Investigators don't need to solve the puzzle today. They can revisit the exact same blockchain years from now with better technology and new intelligence, following your historical transactions as if they happened yesterday.
As someone who lost bitcoin during the Mt. Gox collapse, I know what it's like to watch your coins disappear. It took years of uncertainty before I recovered anything.
You also have absolutely no idea whose money you've taken. It isn't just individuals and companies. Some victims may have extensive resources, influential connections, or backgrounds you know nothing about. Among hundreds of affected people could be former intelligence officers, wealthy financiers, organized crime figures, or people with both the means and the determination to pursue this indefinitely. You simply don't know whose interests you've just collided with.
Many victims have similar stories. Some may shrug it off. Others may dedicate years, or far more, to identifying those responsible. You simply don't know who is behind those wallets or how determined they may be.
If you think the challenge is over because the exploit succeeded, you've mistaken the easiest part for the hardest. Stealing the bitcoin was the beginning.
Living with it is the real problem. Every attempt to cash out, every wallet you touch, every service you use, every mistake you make, increases the probability of connecting your online identity to your real one.
If I were in your position, I would seriously consider approaching Binance and negotiating the return of the funds in exchange for a reasonable bounty or audit fee. You proved your technical ability.
That's far better than spending the rest of your life trying to move one of the most notorious collections of tainted bitcoin ever created while constantly wondering who is watching your next transaction.
Just saying

🚨 BREAKING: Hackers are hitting banks in 7 countries at the same time.
This is what Covid looked like in week 1. A few countries. Small numbers. Nobody called it a crisis.
1/ South Korea: hackers used a Chinese AI tool to break into at least 7 financial firms. 68,000 people's data stolen. 16 firms breached by mid-October. This week Daishin Securities reported 38,490 customers' data leaked, bank account numbers included.
2/ Latin America: one gang ran AI agents built on Claude, Grok and Kimi against 400+ targets, banks and payment firms included. They stole passwords and got into customer bank accounts.
3/ Italy: a fake WhatsApp from "the CEO" and an AI-cloned voice got Intesa Sanpaolo's private bank to send out €95 million. €36 million is still MISSING, turned into crypto.
4/ India: small lenders lost ₹300 crore (about $31 million) in 2 months. 150 cases. Hackers copied bank logins and sent the money out as fake loans. One firm was hit twice.
5/ Crypto: $351 million drained from Bitget's hot wallets. North Korean hackers are suspected.
6/ Japan: hackers hit GMO Internet's currency trading service and demanded $50 million in crypto. The prime minister promised an emergency anti-cyberattack package.
7/ Australia: the regulator warns AI attacks put more than A$4.5 trillion in retirement savings in the firing line. Government cyber alerts jumped 80% in a year.
Now zoom out.
AI hacking tools are now easy to get. Smaller firms have weak security. The money moves in minutes. It jumps across banks, through rented accounts, out as cash or crypto. The bosses are often abroad.
Covid locked the streets. Nobody is calling this a crisis yet. But the central banks already plan for the day the hackers get in.
The G7 agreed to run drills that simulate AI attacks on banks. The ECB reportedly gave eurozone banks 4 months to hand in their defence plans.
If your savings sit in a bank, hit follow. I'm tracking where the hackers strike next and how much they take.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The listed incidents occurred at different times over months (e.g. Italy in Feb 2026; Bitget Sep 24; Latin America targets May-Sep), not simultaneously as presented.

How the Binance hack worked:
The attacker exploited EIP-7702 - an Ethereum Pectra upgrade
That lets a regular wallet temporarily act as a smart contract with a valid private key signature.
Hacker pre-collected 50 EIP-7702 authorizations with sequential nonces
Not knowing the exact nonce at attack time.
Sent them all at once, only one matched.
That was enough.
