So let me get this straight - former Deputy Mayor Jake Pawlak's idea (that he's routing through Councilperson Warwick) for how to get us out of the budget hole that he created is to levy a tax that's not legal and will go through years of expensive litigation.
A good idea, but under PA Law, municipalities (other than Philadelphia) may only tax “Earned Income” (wages). The city went on a spending spree, now it must make the necessary cuts to get expenditures in line with revenue. triblive.com/local/new-tax-o…

In a country with 330 million people and only two political parties, you need to be able to cooperate with people who you don’t agree with about everything which is hard if one faction insists all disagreement is a form of corruption.

Antisemitic graffiti isn't protest. It's hate. Antisemitism is rising, and silence lets it grow. Call it out, especially online. And when Jewish neighbors say they feel threatened, believe them.

Requiring a driver in a driverless car doesn’t make sense.
Minneapolis is open for business, open to innovative technology, and open to a variety of transportation options.
Thoughtful regulation for safety is necessary, but not through a backdoor ban.

Mayor Jacob Frey says he’ll veto this.
“Requiring a driver in a driverless car doesn’t make sense,” Frey said. “Minneapolis is open for business, open to innovative technology, and open to a variety of transportation options. Thoughtful regulation for safety is necessary, but not through a backdoor ban.”
Minneapolis would be the first city in the U.S. to require monitors in driverless cars if the council gives final approval to the measure later this week. startribune.com/minneapolis-…

3 years ago: uber and Lyft are evil companies that exemplify the hellscape of late capitalism and the gig economy
Today: we need to protect our good uber and Lyft jobs from robocalls, which are evil companies that exemplify the hellscape of late capitalism
I assume they'll also require speed governors, BAC monitors, etc for human drivers too?

Obviously there is such a thing as a villain in life, but I find Senator Warren’s obsession with finding every possible opportunity to promote zero-sum thinking to be off-putting and a lot closer to MAGA than fans of this approach like to believe.
Warren to Newsom: “Name the villain”
Newsom: "This notion that if you’re successful somehow, you’re the villain, or you had a stroke of luck, you’re a villain, I have a harder time with" vanityfair.com/story/gavin-n…
