Is this really what we've become @andyburnham ?
An outrageous waste of time and resources and for what ? to defend a state slaughtering, maiming and starving children.

If you're from an left-wing party and you're briefing The Times about factional issues, you have lost your political compass.
It's fine - and appropriate, and good! - to have disputes about strategy and tactics and ideas. It's productive to debate and contest positions and organise collectively.
But briefing The Times is not doing that. It's running to a media that wants to see the Greens destroyed or irrelevant, and helping them.
This is from Adrian Ramsay briefing the Times today. Adrian and Ellie, who will almost certainly lose their seats, and Carolyn, will have to answer for the deeply dehumanising language they’ve relentlessly directed at Green Party members. They should be under no illusion that people will move on and forget.

Look at these numbers. @andyburnham would have been on an absolute winner had he championed these causes. But he didn't. Which tells us that he is working for something/someone far more important to him than us or our approval.
He is not on our side.

This is the slightly more genteel, Green Party version of what the PLP, Labour Together and the party bureaucracy did to Corbyn.
This isn't complicated. If every time large numbers of, primarily young, idealistic people become enthused by politics and seek to engage in the political process you tell them go away, you are not wanted and call them entryists - it is really, really bad for democracy.

In the past 100 days I’ve:
1. Armed Israel while it commits genocide in Gaza.
2. Provided Israel with daily surveillance reports to help it kill more people in Gaza.
3. Provided bases and military support for the US war on Iran.
4. Provided refuelling support for Saudi Arabia’s war on Yemen.
5. Arrested hundreds of Palestine activists.
6. Kept the Palestine Action ban in place.
7. Barred leading scholars from entering Britain.
8. Banned books by bestselling authors.
9. Capitulated to the oil and gas lobby, approving new North Sea gas extraction.
10. Committed to a massive military spending spree, diverting billions from public investment.
11. Made it harder for migrants to secure permanent residency.
12. Continued the war on asylum seekers.
13. Tightened welfare assessments to cut benefit spending.
14. Threatened pension security.
15. Abandoned my proposal to cap political donations.
16. Redirected international climate finance to fund domestic transport subsidies.
100 days ago, I promised to do things differently.
From cutting everyday costs to handing power back to communities, change is already underway.
But I know there’s much more to do - this is just the beginning.

What complete & utter bullshit! For many of us, Jewish identity & history is inextricably linked to justice, antifascism & antigenocide. It is the actions of the corrupt, racist Israeli state that endangers Jews, not the actions of those who oppose genocide in the name of universal justice, equality & antiracism
The two largest Jewish newspapers have co-written an editorial warning that if Palestine Action wins its appeal against proscription next week then the British Jewish community will feel utterly unprotected. Sadly they’re right.jewishnews.co.uk/jn-jc-rever…

Leaked Israeli documents reveal how Benjamin Netanyahu's government waged a secret campaign to stop boycotts of Israel in Britain.
That included a "sensitive" meeting with Michael Gove -- when he was justice secretary in 2015 -- about countering the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement.
Israel’s lobbying campaign was led by its justice minister Ayelet Shaked, who met Gove in London in November 2015.
Shaked, from the far-right Jewish Home party, was alarmed by a European Commission plan to label goods produced on illegally occupied Palestinian land as originating from an “Israeli settlement”.
The issue was consequently high on Shaked’s agenda, with the Israeli government fearing that the labels would help pro-Palestine boycott campaigns.
Gove “enjoyed” meeting Shaked and specifically requested “more information” from the Israeli embassy on the labelling issue, the leaked emails show.
Israel’s foreign ministry then arranged for an analysis to be prepared for Gove “as soon as possible” on the imminent EU measures.
“I am aware of the workload, but there is an unusual window of opportunity here”, noted one Israeli official, apparently referring to Gove’s openness to guidance.

Bottom line: Israeli opposition has a strong majority to topple Netanyahu, but they'd rather keep him in office, go to another election round & commit political suicide than form a gov backed by Arab parties, b/c the latter might -God forbid- require ending the Gaza genocide or slowing down West Bank ethnic cleansing & settler terrorism

A message to those who still believe that it all started on October 7. No, it didn't. A 'managed genocide', to keep 1.5 million Palestinians "on the edge of life" was in force years before. Read the latest report by Eyal Weizman:
"A military document called ‘Red Lines’ set the minimum number of calories required to sustain Gaza’s population at a level just above the UN definition of hunger (2100 calories a day for men, 1700 for women and a varying amount for children depending on gender and age). The total number of calories was translated into the tonnage required to feed Gaza’s then population of 1.5 million and thus the number of aid trucks allowed into the territory. The same went for megawatts of electricity and litres of fuel and water. What was seen as good behaviour was rewarded by an increase in the amounts coming in, any acts of resistance by the tightening of the siege, like a population-scale version of a Milgram experiment."

On this day in 1945, Brazil’s🇧🇷 President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was born. He would go on to be one of the most consequential and transformative Latin American mass movement leaders of the 20th and 21st Centuries.
Born in Garanhuns, Pernambuco, one of Brazil’s poorest northeastern states. His childhood was shaped by the material conditions experienced by millions of Brazilian workers and peasants: rural poverty, insecure employment, hunger and the necessity of migration in search of a livelihood.
His family moved to São Paulo as millions of Brazilians did in search for work in the major industrial centres. Lula began working at an early age, including as a shoeshiner, delivery boy, and industrial employee.
At the age of 17, he lost a finger in an industrial machine accident during a night shift, which helped spark his involvement in Brazil’s trade union movement.
During the era of Brazil’s US-backed military dictatorship, which saw foreign corporations profiteering off of the wealth of Brazil while ordinary Brazilians remained in shocking poverty, Lula became President of Metalworkers’ Union of São Bernardo do Campo and Diadema in 1975. He became a central figure in the struggle against the dictatorship and the capitalist class, organising strikes and union action to secure higher wages and better working conditions. The dictatorship imprisoned him.
In 1980, Lula helped establish the Worker’s Party (PT), a broad church of Marxists, trade unionists, democratic socialists, rural movements, and left-wing intellectuals.
When Lula Da Silva contested and lost the election to become São Paulo’s Governor in 1982, a dejected Lula considered leaving politics altogether, which prompted an intervention by legendary Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro.
According to Lula's biographer and friend, Fernando Morais, Fidel told him: "Listen, Lula…you don't have the right to abandon politics. You don't have the right to do this to the working class…get back into politics!"
Lula would go on to lose 3 Presidential elections in 1989, 1994, and 1998, before finally winning the Presidency in 2002, becoming the first working class President of Brazil.
His first two terms were remarkably transformative:
-22.9 million Brazilians were lifted out of poverty thanks to programs introduced by the PT government
-13 million were lifted out of extreme poverty
-6 million families were lifted out of poverty in 2006 alone
-12.7 million families (almost 50 million people) were reached by the Bolsa Familia cash-transfer program.
-A 39.7% reduction in infant mortality was seen between 2003-2010
-37.2% real cumulative GDP growth from 2003-2010.
During his third term, faced with obstruction and legislative chaos by conservative forces and those loyal to Bolsonaro, striking achievements were still reached:
-8.7 million were lifted out of poverty in 2023 alone.
-Extreme poverty had halved from 7% to 3.5% by 2024.
-Real minimum wages increased by 12.7% between 2022-2026.
-Amazon deforestation fell by 38% in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025.
Abroad, one of Lula’s biggest legacies has been the founding of BRICS, which continues to build a multipolar world today and is seen as a major threat to US hegemony.
He has consistently stood with the Palestinian people and opposed the US-UK-EU-armed Gaza genocide.
By defeating Flávio Bolsonaro, he thwarted an assault on the BRICS project, and the drive for Trump’s renewed Monroe Doctrine which sought to turn Latin American into a collection of vassal states loyal to Washington and Israel.
While Lula has had his fair share of shortcomings and mistakes, both at home and abroad, he stands as one of the most transformative Latin American leaders in recent history and has shown through mass mobilisation and popular resistance, Washington’s will and dominance can be successfully resisted.

🇵🇸💢 NEW: 6-year-old Tahani Mohammed Saeed Shalalfa was killed Tuesday morning, shot by Israeli forces in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis, according to medical sources cited by the Palestinian outlet Shehab News.
She is the second young girl killed by indiscriminate Israeli fire in the area's displacement tents this week, after 7-year-old Jouri al-Soufi who was killed yesterday.
Ahmed Yassin Bseiso, a man, also died Tuesday of wounds from an Israeli strike on Thawra Street in central Gaza City several days ago, the report said.
Israeli forces also opened heavy fire on tents of displaced families in western Rafah and shelled the Nuseirat and Bureij refugee camps in central Gaza, Felesteen reported.

🇵🇸 "Mama, cover me. Mama, I'm scared," 7-year-old Jouri al-Soufi told her mother as gunfire rang out near their tent in Khan Younis before dawn Monday.
Moments later, an Israeli bullet struck her in the heart as she lay under her blanket, her mother told the Palestinian newspaper Felesteen.
Her mother, Islam Abu Muammar, didn't realize Jouri had been hit until she tried to wake her and found blood on her side. Jouri's grandmother and other women in the family, one of them pregnant, were also wounded.
The family said ambulances couldn't reach them for an hour or more because the shooting continued near the "yellow line," the boundary of Israeli-occupied Gaza under the ceasefire.
Jouri was a top student in second grade, her family said. Israeli forces killed her father about a year and a half earlier, and she had lived through hunger and displacement since. "My daughter was the most precious thing in my life," her mother said.
