The central premise of the publishing industry seems to be, What if we take the softest people we can find and make them compete against each other for the smallest prize in the world?
Today is my first Mother’s Day and while I never felt sure I was destined to be “a mom,” I know without a doubt that I was destined to be my child’s mom
Wasn’t sure it was possible or if I even wanted to. I had perfected living my best life, savored my independence and kept bumping up against fertility roadblocks. I never had baby fever, never felt that my sole calling was to be a mom, and had barely held a baby.
For a whole decade this day brought up my ambivalence about my identity as a childless woman. For many years I didn’t know if I would ever celebrate my own Mother’s Day.
