Jennifer Lawrence says she refused to lose weight for The Hunger Games because she didn’t want young girls to feel they had to look a certain way to be Katniss. “The Hunger Games felt like an awesome responsibility.” “The books were huge, and I knew the audience was children.” “The biggest conversation was about my weight.” “People kept asking, ‘How much weight are you going to lose?’” “They’d say, ‘Well, it’s called The Hunger Games.’” “I didn’t want all the girls dressing up as Katniss to feel like they couldn’t because they weren’t a certain weight.” “I couldn’t let that seep into my brain.” “I just wasn’t going to do that.”
