There is a very simple reason why the UK government refuses to acknowledge the genocide in Gaza. If they did, they would be admitting their own complicity in one of the greatest crimes of our time. End all arms sales to Israel, now.

Neoliberalism is the ideology that society should be ruled by "markets," not democracy. But markets are controlled by the wealthy. Letting markets decide meant letting the wealthy rule. OF COURSE it pushed all the wealth up to a few. OF COURSE it brought austerity for the rest.

When you vote against raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour but vote yes to giving Jeff Bezos a $10 billion dollar bailout to take a joy ride on his rocket ship to the moon, yes. You have abandoned the working class.

The level of dehumanization required for the western media to completely ignore this bigoted and deliberate incitement in Amsterdam is off the charts.
If there were hordes of people marching on the streets of Europe chanting "F**K THE JEWS"... there would rightly be outrage from every European leader & newspaper. This is a video of hordes of Israelis marching through #Amsterdam chanting "F**K THE ARABS". NO OUTRAGE #heirarchy

This is what abandoning the working class looks like: Opposing amendments to expand Medicare to cover dental, vision & hearing; cut drug prices by 50%; & expand the Child Tax Credit; & supporting fossil fuel giveaways all to appease Joe Mansion. Yes. I think about this day a lot:
Our Amendments 11:31pm Cut Medicare drug prices by 50%: 1-99 1:15AM Expand Medicare: 3-97 4:01AM Civilian Climate Corps: 1-98 7:48AM Extend Child Tax Credit: 1-97 9:38AM Strike Fossil Fuel Breaks: 1-99 It always seems impossible until it's done. Never give up.

True about Sanders. About the first sentence, make it “These older Dems came out of the Money experience…”. It’s a con.
These older Dems came out of the Reagan experience believing Dems had to move as far right as they could to get voters back from Republicans. They believe Americans WANT corporate rule. I know SO MANY Trump voters who would have voted for Bernie.

It goes even further because markets and individuals are in general self constrained and thus self correcting. In neoliberalism the role of government and civil society organisations is to remove all guardrails to prevent that self regulation from happening.

Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin ended up being so close that Harris might well have won the election if she had leaned into Walz-style populism instead of Cheney-style conservatism.

I’m listening to Republican strategist Sarah Longwell on NPR talking about public opinion of Trump’s tyrannical posture and she just said: “When I ask voters in focus groups if they think Donald Trump is an authoritarian, the #1 response by far is, ‘what’s an authoritarian?’”

Starting Monday I won't be continuing at this site. Or as "press critic online most of the time." For a while Twitter was a way to do journalism education in public, for a public— and for free. I think I was effective at times in that role. I no longer know how that's done. 1/

I was totally supportive of Harris campaigning with Republicans, even the Cheneys. The idea of giving Republicans a "permission structure" to vote against Trump was a good idea. But this is what happened. It didn't work and may have caused some Dems to not vote.

There are no "swing voters." None, Been saying that for a long time. Doesn't matter anymore anyway, as there are no more real elections.
