Prod scenario question for senior engineers: a webhook provider retries for 24 hours. Your endpoint is not idempotent. You discover duplicates in orders/invoices and some downstream side effects already happened.
What do you do to fix correctness safely?
Constraints: you can’t pause retries easily, events arrive out of order, you only have provider event_id + timestamp, and customer support needs a clear story.
I’d look for: add an idempotency key store (event_id unique), make the handler transactional (write idempotency record + business write in one DB txn), and design rollback/compensation for already-applied side effects (refunds, voids, reverse ledger entries).
Also: how do you backfill and dedupe existing bad data, add observability (high-cardinality event_id logs, duplicate rate metric, dead letter queue), and ship it behind a feature flag without making the incident worse?

🚨BREAKING: Hugging Face, the world's largest open-source AI platform, had to use a Chinese AI model to defend against the OpenAI hack.
US frontier models refused to help with forensic analysis because their safety guardrails couldn't tell the difference between the attacker and the defense team.
Hugging Face fell back on China's GLM 5.2 running on its own servers to complete the investigation.

🇪🇺 ChatControl is back!
Now they're trying to pass an even more far reaching ChatControl law through the back door, in a form even more intrusive than the originally rejected plan, without needing any of the EU countries votes
The new proposal:
- total mandatory surveillance of ALL text chats, emails and social media in the EU
- obligatory registration of your ID/passport to your chat, email or social media account
- minimum age requirement for chat, email and social media apps of 16 (!)
The only way to stop this law is if EU countries veto it
