Unbelievably excited to announce that my 1st book will be out this Spring through @RoutledgeMusic! It's about grime (ofc) + asks how & why artists do what they do & questions what we can learn about creative practice more broadly by taking grime seriously. routledge.com/Level-Up-Live-…

Rome would rap rings around Surf. One of the purest rappers I've ever witnessed in the flesh. It's his default setting.

Amazing how much these grifters employ rhetoric that precipitated fascism over a hundred years ago. Not even sure if it’s intentional at this stage. Just a word soup of ā€œoptimizationā€, ā€œscalingā€ and ā€œsynergyā€, laced with Jeremy Clarkson shouting ā€œpower!!ā€

Alright, lots of metalheads talking out their asses about politics recently so Dr. Death Metal is going into professor mode. ā€œPoliticsā€ isn’t just about elections, government, and political parties. ā€œPoliticsā€ is about power. Listen up: 1/X

Metallica discourse hasn’t changed my mind about the band (flashes of brilliance, Ride the Lightning unimpeachable, Hatfield a POS), but it has reaffirmed why I find going to metal shows a really odd experience. Most people are golden, but a sizable handful are actual demons

Shout out groups like Terzij de Horde who are explicitly anti-fascist, climate-focused. Those who say nothing are often all-too-aware of the % of their fanbase who have had and still harbour particular leanings (from Anselmo all the way to Varg).

Remembering the great D'Angelo, who passed away 1 year ago today. A year on, and it still doesn’t feel real. The voice that made time stop is gone, but the feeling it left never left with it. We miss you, D’Angelo…

It’s awful, lazy and exactly the sort of nonsense you’d expect GRM to peddle in 2026.
EastEnders characters taking on some of UK rap’s most iconic tracks might be one of the funniest AI trends we’ve seen. šŸ˜‚ From Max Branning living up to his reputation to Ian Beale channelling his inner Terminator, Walford’s finest are getting a whole new lease of life.

Thinking Allowed is my favourite programme on R4. Rekindled my interest in sociology after my MA, and contributed sizably to me returning to academia. So shortsighted and an unconscionable loss

I live here. Yesterday it took over an hour to get a national rail to Charing cross on the Hayes Line, and then 75 mins to get home from Peckham 🄲 the slander is justified
Everyone needs to stop acting like Croydon isn’t just ONE stop from London Bridge, enough of the far slander

Appreciate he’s engagement farming but this Now That’s What I Call Opera nonsense is a new low
This is nice, but the truth is that traditional (pre-musical theatre) opera is very very boring. The best way to help people enjoy it would be to put on ā€œthe best of operaā€ nights that just do the highlight songs and drop the terrible 3-hour plots in between them.
