Movie chase scenes traditionally need fast cuts to heighten the energy and excitement. Peter Hyams took the opposite approach while directing the gritty Los Angeles vice cop thriller BUSTING (1974). Elliott Gould and Robert Blake pursued the bad guys for 105 seconds with only FIVE CUTS. Two years before the Steadicam was invented, the crew had to use a doorway dolly, a camera car and a studio dolly to execute these kinetic long takes. A bold filmmaking choice that demanded precise choreography and 100% effort between the actors and camera crew.

It is so funny and bleakly depressing that there are things AI absolutely could do to help people - my siblings are doctors who talk about its utility sorting manually-verified data - but but tech bros pushing it just hated artists and loved themselves so much they fumbled it.

The entire AI industry doing the “oh we just want to help people” schtick is hilarious. Before the threat of regulations the execs were trying to start AI religious cults, telling graduates smugly that their jobs will be gone,& openly saying they want to monopolise thinking.

As somebody who has both editted videos myself and had the good fortune to work with some of the best video editors in the business, video editing is absolutely an artform, and a mode of expression. When I work with a video editor, I consider them a co-author.

i'm worried about ai video editing because of the amount of you who've said something along the lines of "i want to be a youtuber but i hate editing" the reality is that a vast majority of people view editing as more of manual labor than art. most of you think that the (1/10)
