.@MercedesAMGF1 is the leading F1 team and the best business in the sport. Toto Wolff is the only owner-principal. I was excited to sit him down and understand his business background, how they run engineering under the constantly-changing rules, his views on the industry, and how he's preparing for succession.

A quick EU founder survey: eusurvey.vercel.app.

Hi @patrickc - Judith from @langdock here. We just crossed €50m ARR and flipped from a US Inc -> European SE.
We want Germany to make starting and running companies easier (first on the list: compulsory notarization).
At the same time, building a big company from here is absolutely possible and we intend to prove it. The SE is actually a good structure, but it's not an option for founders who are just starting out. That's why we are big supporters of @euinc.
We're bullish on Germany - and bullish we can do even better. Both can be true at the same time. Happy to chat more.
I'm curious to read other stories from people who've scaled new businesses in Europe. (And if your experience has been positive, that's also useful to hear.) Feel free to email me: [email protected].

Today, a subcommittee on Edinburgh Council chose to IGNORE Granton.
They prioritised a small group of NIMBYs over:
👉 One of Scotland’s most deprived communities
👉 Families moving into the 3,500 new homes
👉 More JOBS for the people of Granton, Muirhouse, and Pilton
👉 Access to Edinburgh College, Craigleith Retail Park & Western General Hospital.
👉 Companies expanding and SCALING.
Local groups want the tram. @tracygilbert wants the tram. Polling shows the PEOPLE of Granton & Edinburgh WANT the tram.
The Council has the power to OVERRULE.
GIVE GRANTON THE TRAM.
Help us force them to do it. Join our campaign.

Met a German founder this week and asked him if all the stories one reads about the challenges of startups in Germany are exaggerated. "No, they're understated." Proceeded to describe spending a full day having a 90-page investment contract read to him (mandatory under German law; § 13 BeurkG) by a notary that then charged €30,000. That was for his first company. His second company, needless to say, was not incorporated in Germany.

They state that decline is not inevitable, and instead Europe should focus towards a common destiny where we have the capability to compete, build and grow.

60 minutes re: how @stripe is building for, and with, AI.
(Even though I work pretty deeply on this stuff, I always learn something from hearing @gaybrick explain it clearly.)
Stripe's Will Gaybrick: "Build everything"
Against an industry that sees agents as a way to cut costs, Stripe is using them to build more: agents wrote 30% of code in a week, global tax filing shipped in 1/3 the time the US version took, and after AI made sellers 20% more productive, Stripe hired even more sellers.
President of Technology & Business @gaybrick sits down with a16z's David George to cover why there's no one left for Stripe to copy, why checkout pages will disappear, how agents plus stablecoins make micropayments real, and why tokens are becoming a currency worth protecting like dollars.

Our offices run air conditioning at 22°C, 365 days a year. That isn't a perk. It's a performance decision.
The data is clear. Cognitive performance peaks at around 22°C and drops off on either side, roughly 1% for every degree you move away from it. Cornell found workers at ~22°C made fewer errors and got more done than those left too hot or too cold.
Off the back of this we're building a Human Performance team at Fuse. First hire is a Workplace Performance Manager, owning everything that makes our people sharper and more productive, pushing the absolute limit of human performance.
This week the European Commission shut off the AC for staff on lower floors while commissioners on the upper floors kept theirs running. That's the degrowth mindset in one image: ask the people doing the actual work to sweat for a rounding error of emissions, while the people at the top stay cool.
We reject the premise entirely. The answer to energy isn't to ration comfort and call it virtue. It's to build more of it, clean and abundant, so nobody has to choose between performance and the planet. That's the whole reason Fuse exists.
22°C. Seven days a week. For everyone.
