hot take: knowing how to use AI tools is useful, but knowing when NOT to use them is an underrated skill. not every problem needs an agent, a RAG pipeline, or 14 layers of abstraction. sometimes a simple script is the engineering solution.

the hardest part of building with AI isn't always the AI. it's figuring out what to build in the first place, deciding what actually matters, and resisting the urge to add 17 more features!
