INEC has reportedly restricted public access to results of elections conducted under Professor Amupitan, without issuing any explanation, maintenance notice, apology, or timeline for restoration. The alarming development was exposed by a X user, Mundus (@mundus01), who revealed that IReV has been inaccessible for several days, for all elections held under the current INEC Chairman. According to him, INEC quietly took away public access to election results, and has refused to tell Nigerians why. He wrote: “Do you know that you currently cannot access results on IReV for any election held under Amupitan? It has been this way for a few days now, and unsurprisingly, INEC has said nothing. You take away public access to election results, and do not think the public deserves an explanation.” Mundus further disclosed that he had to save the results from some of the affected elections on private servers, through Mundx Analytics, for record-keeping; fearing that they may be lost, or manipulated by INEC Officials loyal to the All Progressives Congress, APC, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The action of INEC is now raising serious suspicion among Nigerians. Many are asking why the Commission would secretly restrict access to IReV; the only Portal that guarantees transparency, at a time when trust in the Electoral process is already very fragile. Many Nigerians are of the view that the move looks deliberate and suspicious; especially coming after INEC's failure to release the updated Voters Register for 2027, after several demands and condemnation; with allegations that the Commission is planning to disenfranchise Nigerians and manipulate figures, ahead of 2027, to aid number formulation for President Tinubu and the APC.
