Shubho Bijoya Dashami ♥️✨ Perhaps the greatest evil we must vanquish is the one within us. The one that teaches us to hate, to dominate, to divide and to destroy nature. May we choose compassion over cruelty, unity over division, and love over fear. For each other. For all life. 🌳🦋

Despite decades of progress, our global food system is under immense strain & hunger remains unacceptably high. Food is a fundamental human right. Let’s turn shared commitments into action & deliver sustainable, healthy & equitable food systems for all.

#India: We are concerned by reports of mass detentions of demonstrators, protest leaders, members of civil society organisations, lawyers and journalists, before and during today’s large-scale demonstrations in Delhi. We call on the authorities to ensure that the right to peaceful assembly is fully respected and fulfilled. ohchr.org/en/press-releases/…

This show didn't get enough love: The Plastic Detox. Couples who couldn't conceive for years were told to use less plastic for 90 days. Plastic food containers, plastic wrap, utensils, underwear, clothes, etc. 90 days later 3/6 got pregnant. youtube.com/watch?v=Esd8PEWl…

I'm proud to report that for the first time in history, the @UN has achieved gender parity across all senior leadership, headquarters & professional staff. We removed barriers, challenged assumptions & refused to accept that power must look as it always has. And we never compromised on quality & competence. If the UN can do it, so can governments, parliaments & businesses everywhere.

‘Run him over’ This is beyond horrific & tragic. #forest officer crushed by #mining #mafia as he sought to stop illegal soil mining. He is one among many who try & protect our #forests #nature #wildlife -#natural resources & the retaliation is brutal. We have failed to equip, empower & honour them. #Rajasthan @RajCMO @ForestRajasthan @SachinPilot indianexpress.com/article/in…

Doubling down on oil and gas will only lock in vulnerability for decades. Fortunately, we have a way out. Renewables are the cheapest, fastest & most secure source of new electricity almost everywhere. They are unstoppable.

From wars to climate change, the crises the world is facing are essentially a question of power: Who has power? Who is denied power? How is power used? How is power changing? At #UNGA, I’ve asked world leaders: Will we act to ensure that power is governed by law or by force? By cooperation or coercion? By responsibility to young people & future generations or indifference to their fate? Because the defining challenges of our age are expressions of power. And they will determine whether the world drifts deeper into division & instability or moves toward cooperation, justice & collective security.

The world faces three existential threats: Runaway artificial intelligence. The climate crisis. And the intolerable deepening of inequalities. Next week, world leaders are coming together at #UNGA. My message to them: International cooperation is more important than ever.

The most expensive part of a hospital bill may never touch the hospital at all. A patient admitted for care has no way of knowing whether the price on a medical consumable reflects its actual cost or a markup fixed long before it ever reached the ward. That gap in information is, at its core, a public health issue. A survey of hospital consumables in Maharashtra found an IV infusion set with a trade price of ₹11.05 carrying a printed MRP of ₹325 ; a markup of 2,841%. A syringe procured at ₹6.75 carried an MRP of ₹57.20. A catheter procured at ₹29.41 carried an MRP of ₹310. These are not elective purchases. Patients cannot compare prices, seek alternatives, or question a number printed on a box while receiving care and the MRP itself is often fixed upstream by manufacturers and distributors, disconnected from the trade price by a wide, unexplained margin. The result is a system where the party bearing the cost has the least information to evaluate it. The regulatory gap is structural: scheduled medicines are capped under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013. Most medical devices and consumables are not leaving both the pricing and the information around it almost entirely unmonitored. A review of these findings and clear guidelines on the permissible gap between trade procurement price and declared MRP have been recommended to the Department of Pharmaceuticals and the NPPA ; a step toward closing not just a pricing gap, but the information gap patients are left to bear alone. #PublicHealth #GoodGovernance #Leadership #TukaramMundhe moneycontrol.com/news/busine…
