I treat blocking people as a public service now. I normally only block the very stupid or the biggest time wasters, and because they can't reply to threads I start it means people don't have to sift through their bollocks to get to the good comments.

I don't understand anti-capitalists at all. Why would you want to dismantle a system that constantly strives to deliver the things you want at prices you can afford in favour of a system that tells you what should want and delivers something worse, that isn't worth what you pay for it, and throws you in jail if you complain.
French communist admits why they are REALLY protesting… “We are socialists, we are communists, we are anticapitalists,… the whole system must go!”

This question is basically a litmus test between people who actually understand data and people like Khan, who are entirely dishonest. Posts like this are equivalent to waving a giant red flag that marks you as a professional liar.

Good Morning from Germany, where one of Europe’s biggest landlords calls the country “uninvestable.” Heimstaden is withholding fresh capital over Berlin’s expropriation plans. It owns 20,000 apartments in the city worth ~€5bn and estimates a potential €1bn loss. Its hybrid bond has plunged from ~98 cents in August to 82.5. The irony: a policy meant to tackle the housing shortage risks driving away investment without building a single new home. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

It's amusing to read that Paris looters are discovering the watches they stole from Rolex and Patek Philippe stores are worthless shop units without working movements and secondly that all the Apple phones are display technology that locked the moment they left the store.

Sigh.
Some chatter on social media would have you believe that crime is out of control. The facts tell a different story. As @frasernelson has shown in his Substack today: Violence is at its lowest level since the crime survey began in 1981. Robbery is at a record low. Crime, excluding fraud, is 78% down on its peak in 1995. And the stats show this Government is delivering on its promises too: Knife crime is down 11%. Knife murders are at their lowest level in 35 years. Thefts including phone snatching have fallen by 20% in the last year alone. But I know there is more that we must do, and we will: We’ve put more than 3,800 extra neighbourhood officers into roles, with named, contactable officers for every neighbourhood. We’re introducing the most significant reforms to policing in a generation. We are tackling rising rates of violence against women and girls through our landmark strategy. And we are tackling crimes like fraud, more prevalent in our increasingly online world, with £250 million directed to this challenge in our Fraud Strategy published this year.

The Europoors are at it again. I can't believe that this government looks at the slowest growing continent on planet earth and thinks 'yes, let's be more like them'. Europe is a chronic disaster zone and we should largely be doing precisely the opposite of what it decrees - especially on energy and tech policy.

This goes beyond ineptitude and into banana republic nonsense. You cannot simply appoint your mates and ideological fellow travellers to critical national security positions and treat vetting as a “nice to have”. Labour learned nothing from Mandelson.

Huh
Labour will sharply reduce funding for some of Britain’s most affluent councils and divert it to poorer areas, after Andy Burnham has promised to create “good growth in every postcode”. Councils in the vales and shires will lose £61m of grant funding from central government over the next three years, while urban areas will see an uplift of £2.9bn, according to ONS figures ⤵️ telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

BREAKING: Dutch spies hacked Jared Kushner's iPhone and watched him access a Dubai bank account holding hundreds of millions funneled from Azerbaijan, part of at least $2 billion MBS and MBZ placed for him after he promised to push their agenda with Trump, per a Vanity Fair excerpt. "Jared was looking for shortcuts in his diplomacy. He promised MBZ that he'd push their agenda with Trump if they participated in a fund. He wanted normalization with Israel so that business could take off," a source who knew the arrangement said. The money was meant to redraw the region's map and lock in normalization with Israel. Roughly $1 billion of it was deposited in Israel's Central Bank for Kushner, with Netanyahu requiring dual-key approval on any transfers. The two royals initially discussed more than $10 billion for a shared slush fund. That narrowed to roughly $2 billion deposited into accounts Kushner could access, including roughly $750 million at First Abu Dhabi Bank under a UAE charity used as cover for covert operations. The reveal comes as Kushner is deeply involved in Iran war diplomacy, where Iran has accused him and Steve Witkoff of pocketing $9 billion through market manipulation, using insider knowledge of the talks to trade oil futures, energy stocks, and prediction markets.

How can you help people understand a subject if you don't understand it?
To the people ragging on BBC's Joe Tidy for not knowing about PHP: Guess what? Nor did 99% of the general public. It is a journalist's job to help people understand complex subjects. We're writers, not technicians - we speak to the experts. (P.S. Joe is the best in the biz.)
