Eli is directionally correct that lattice-crypto has more algebraic structure than hash-crypto and that this structure could theoretically be used to break it, altho i think the newness of lattices is a bit overstated. Lattice crypto originally started as offensive cryptanalysis, not a defensive structure. In cryptography, you generally want all-or-nothing systems. If I try to guess your password and I’m even one character off, I should get no clue about how close I was or which characters were correct. In practice, this is difficult. For example, if I respond slightly slower depending on how many characters are correct, then you can use timing to gradually extract the complete password. This is where timing attacks come from. Lattices are like vector fields but instead of taking any linear combination of the basis vectors (with real coefficients) you only accept integer coefficients. So you have some building blocks and you can combine them but not shrink or stretch them. It’s similar to how crystals have evenly spaced atoms in multiple dimensions. The basic idea in lattice attacks is that you find a bunch of clues or partial solutions and make each one a basis vector. Then you try to find (“Learn”) a combination of them whose sum is small (Short Integer Solution, SIS), which simultaneously combines the partial solutions to make a complete solution. This method can be used to attack elliptic curve signatures when the nonces used are biased, not uniformly distributed. Lattice signatures and zk-proofs use similar ideas but defensively, to find problems that resist lattice attacks. Learning-With-Errors (LWE) essentially takes that short integer solution and adds noise to it so that an attacker cannot use straightforward linear algebra to solve it. Then you can prove you know the solution without revealing it by solving a related problem. Hash-crypto works quite differently. It basically uses one-way functions (hashes) as a building block and you prove you know a secret by selectively revealing the inputs to a publicly-committed output. Since hash-crypto doesn’t have any algebraic equations in its structure, people say it has less attack surface, which is true. The tradeoff is that you have much larger signatures and it doesn’t have nice threshold schemes or key exchange algorithms or encryption, which all rely on that missing algebraic structure. Both hash-crypto and lattice-crypto rely on the security of hash functions, tho, so the reduction in attack surface is a clear win for hash-crypto. It would be great if we just had full security-proofs for some crypto-system so we wouldn’t have to rely on heuristics like this, but that’s just where we are in our scientific knowledge as a species. Maybe AI will help us solve P =? NP and that will lead to provably secure systems.
Strong disagree. Lattices have juicy mathematical structure, ripe for AI to attack. And the succinct versions based on module SIS are too new -- only around since 2012. I recommend waiting another 3-5 years for AI to kick the tires, before entrusting serious $ with it. DYOR; stay safe.

the gist of what I said is the most important question to ask about every investment is “why am i seeing this deal”: do i have unique access and/or massive information asymmetry. the more reputable the insiders, the lower their time preference of all parties, and the better the product+team, the better the investment. in crypto you have a lot of rigged, high time preference, commodity products where the aim is to rinse dollars and instead ask and answer the question “at what price and time (short) do i want to ruthlessly dump on people who have worse access than me who i can convince to buy this asset”. this is most expended by the meme coin casino. this is why everyone thinks crypto is a scam. and then when something credible and good comes along, most fade it until its too late. this also happens in things like biotech, and will probably happen in AI and robotics. very difficult to find something credible. and sometimes a credible thing can also look like a scam. hard!

Project Eleven and Quantus Plan Strongpoint Integration With Quantus Joining as a Development Partner Quantus joins as a development partner for Strongpoint support on the Quantus Network, helping shape institutional key management, governance, and transaction workflows for the post-quantum blockchain. Project Eleven and Quantus today announced plans to integrate the @QuantusNetwork with Strongpoint, Project Eleven’s institutional custody platform built for the post-quantum and AI era. Quantus joins as a development partner for Strongpoint support on the Quantus Network, helping shape the integration for institutional users. As blockchain networks begin adopting post-quantum cryptography, they are unlikely to converge on a single signature scheme, migration path, or timeline. For institutions, that creates a growing infrastructure challenge: supporting different cryptographic standards across multiple networks while maintaining consistent security, governance, and operational controls. Strongpoint is designed to address that challenge through a crypto-agile architecture that separates institutional controls from the cryptography used by the underlying network. Authentication, policies, approvals, key management, and audit operate through a common control layer while the cryptographic algorithms and network-specific requirements beneath them can change independently. The planned integration will extend that architecture to Quantus. Quantus provides post-quantum security at the protocol level, while Strongpoint will enable institutions to secure Quantus keys and approve transactions through institutional hardware, policies, approval processes, and audit controls. “Quantus is taking a forward-looking approach by building post-quantum security directly into its architecture,” said Alex Pruden (@apruden08), Co-Founder and CEO of Project Eleven. “As more networks adopt new cryptographic standards, institutions will need infrastructure that can support those changes without forcing them to rebuild their security and operational workflows each time. Strongpoint is designed to provide that consistent layer.” As a development partner for the integration, Quantus will work with Project Eleven to help shape Strongpoint’s support for the network and the requirements of institutions operating on it. The companies expect to collaborate on technical integration, key-management workflows, transaction support, and other infrastructure required to bring Quantus into institutional custody environments. “Quantus was designed around the security requirements of a post-quantum world,” said Christopher Smith (@YuviLightman), Co-Founder and CEO of Quantus. “For institutions, adopting new cryptography should not mean replacing the security, governance, and operational systems they already rely on. Working with Project Eleven will make it easier to support Quantus within existing key-management and transaction approval workflows, helping reduce the operational friction that can come with adopting a new cryptographic standard.” Once support is available, institutions will be able to manage Quantus alongside other digital assets while maintaining a consistent approach to key security, transaction governance, and operational controls. The collaboration is part of Project Eleven’s broader work with blockchain networks and institutions as it develops Strongpoint ahead of general availability. Quantus support is targeted for Q1 2027, with final availability details to be announced ahead of launch.

Justin Drake says it's time to enter bunker mode. Two days earlier, @QuantusNetwork launched its quantum secure Layer 1. So we asked co-founder @JoeMattia if the timing was coordinated? "I would like to think that we have the mandate of heaven." The real answer goes back two years, to conferences where Joe kept warning that quantum could threaten the cryptography securing every chain. Cryptographers agreed. Most others shrugged. Now the rest of the industry is catching up.

It’s time for QUANTUM BITCOIN You may have seen QTC go live on Near yesterday. Here is my thesis for why this is one of the most asymmetric tokens of the upcoming cycle. I don’t trade. I buy coins that have massive asymmetric growth over a long period. 0x or 100x over 10 years. Crypto has clearly bifurcated into two categories: crypto money (e.g. BTC, ETH, ZEC) and crypto equity (e.g. HYPE, LIT, MORPHO) Both are good, but the former category is one I’d describe as “irresponsible to not be exposed to” We need moneys with stable monetary supply outside of the fiat and physical commodity systems. These moneys should compete with each other to approximate the platonic ideal: - univerally accepted - auditable - scarce - private - secure - sustainability None are yet perfect. Quantus has unique advantages that give it massive upside at this point in time. 1. It is already quantum proof, not just quantum recoverable 2. Every single transaction could plausibly be to a private address, while appearing public. This is a stronger version of the best of both worlds ZEC has 3. It takes a small % fee on the order of bps in the privacy pool to re-up the security budget. With enough volume it can achieve “Monetary Escape Velocity” and never encounter a security budget issue. There are only two downsides here: 1. it is a new chain, not yet lindy and widely integrated 2. similarly its price and liquidity are not at the scale to support the highest levels of store of value If you believe these obstacles can be overcome, it is very worth keeping a close eye on QTC. Quants together strong
