Every founder should be an anthropologist of their space.
I’ve been studying the productivity space for a decade — hundreds of entries in a “competitive intelligence” DB.
It’s one of the most underrated founder habits to sharpen your positioning.
The advice not to worry about competitors is bad advice.
You must understand why they win or why they lose.
That time investment also pays off later when:

I’ve been leaning on AI more and more to summarize and retrieve my notes.
But when it comes to actually making sense of them long-term, I keep coming back to Tiago Forte’s Progressive Summarization.
It forces me to think, not just outsource—so my notes stay useful long-term.
Next time you revisit a note:
- Bold what stands out
- Highlight the best of the best
- Add a 1-line summary (Lazy AI can do this in a click, but your own words stick better)
You don’t need to do it all at once—each pass makes the note more useful.
