I love this idea, mostly because I don’t think I’d be able to pass a LeetCode interview nowadays if my life depended on it.
I spent last week trying out a bunch of cloud hosting providers. @OVHcloud is by far the worst of the bunch. Their dashboard is super-slow, I got 403 forbidden errors often, and it takes forever to get approval to even spin up a single server. How are they so recommended?
Gotta love service status pages like Trello's (trello.status.atlassian.com/) with a big bright green "All Systems Operational" banner and graphs, and the system metrics buried after all of that show "Uptime: 0%".
I've been a GitHub user since 2008 and have been paying them for over a decade, but I'm pretty close to migrating to GitLab. With their current focus on infusing everything with AI and charging for running self-hosted GitHub Actions runners, I don't want to support them anymore.
A new Rails features that's not talked about much is local CI. It's a fast and easy way to make sure your app is ready to ship, without having to wait for your CI service to run. I wrote an article about it and how to set it up on an existing Rails app. dev-tester.com/speed-up-your…
If video is more your style, here's one I recorded this week showing exactly how to set up local CI in a Rails app and show how it works. Maybe seeing it in action will make you want to try it for yourself.

I love having a CPU with 16 cores/32 threads. It doesn't even break a sweat rendering a 4K video while doing some coding and watching YouTube while I wait for the rendering to finish.
So how many large-scale outages are we going to get before these companies realize that maybe relying too much on AI isn’t a great idea?
I spent last weekend doing something entirely new for me: vibe coding. It didn't go great, and it made me realize everything in software development consists of trade-offs and how most don't even know they're giving up when using these tools.

What the hell changed with Claude Code recently? I asked it a simple question in plan mode and it spawned a couple of subagents that burned through 40% of my session limits in less than five minutes. It never did this before.
Seems like I'm not the only one dealing with these issues:

I whipped up a quick 8-minute video showing how to use one of Kamal's new features: spinning up a local Docker container registry for deployments. It's a much-needed update that makes Kamal even easier to use.

Me after returning to the code I was working on before getting sick and being wiped out for a couple of days:
I really dislike this apparent trend of apps and services saying “here’s a bunch of AI features that most people don’t want but we’re shoehorning in so we don’t feel left behind - oh, and we’re going to increase your price by 2–3x to cover for it”
Looking at you, @todoist.
You may have noticed I'm a huge fan of Kamal for deploying web apps. It's now gotten even better since now we don't have to set up a remote container registry for simple deploys. Here's a quick write-up on how to enable it for existing Kamal configs. dennmart.com/articles/using-…
I honestly don't how people are using LLMs for coding. More often than not, no matter how much time I spend on crafting my prompts and giving plenty of context, it gives me so much hallucinated garbage that the output is useless. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I finished Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 today. What an amazing game, highly recommended.
Thank you for making such a gem and an instant classic, @SandfallGames.
I recently bought my first vertical mouse (@KeychronMK M5). It took some time to get used to it but it makes a huge difference in how my wrist feels after a day of work.
It's really easy to forget about ergonomics, but we need to make sure to take care of ourselves better.
