Newest members of our farm! This is their first time on pasture here, they are very happy with all the docks, nettles and thistles 😄

It is the season ❄️ You need to be knitting. You need to be crocheting. You need to be stashing wool.

I think it is simple. Shallow roots are easily pulled. If your family has been in the same Shire for 800 years (as mine has), uprooting is far more difficult bc your roots go down to the earth's very core and are as wide as ancient Yew trunks.
One thing I find very difficult to understand about sedentary people is this: The world is vast. What does it profit you to force yourself to remain in one fixed location? Why would anyone do this if they could somehow avoid it? I can see making the most of it if you are compelled by circumstance to remain in one place, that makes a lot of sense. But in a matrix of freely-made choices, why would anyone prefer or choose to just sit around in one place forever? This has never been clear to me. I've heard plenty of defenses of the practice, and have entertained the great bulk of them -- but I've found them all incomplete, insufficient, and above all, I have found the experience of staying in one place to be profoundly stifling and even boring. The world feels far too vast and interesting for me to waste time in this fashion. If nothing else, it seems extremely dubious and even incongruous that fixity of place could ever be assumed to be wise, the best option, the obviously virtuous course, etc. I suspect that most people would, if given a real choice, not choose to just hang around in a single location forever.

The mighty citreon, it turns out, is the perfect size for fencing supplies AND a bale of hay! Ideal farm vehicle this 👍

Loved this portal dolmen in north wales, which is being used as a gatepost in a livestock pen on a working farm. 6000 years of use ain't bad

Am I going to regret not buying this holographic Jesus in a secondhand shop 200 miles away?

Meanwhile me and the other NHS staff stood outside the hospital
As Prussia was an army with its own state, Britain is now a healthcare system with its own country
