Nobody talking about the new format of @matt_levineโs emails? Overall I think itโs an upgrade although losing the gray links is bittersweet
Couldnโt agree more w Jack here
Big things coming in 2027 ๐
Those unfortunate souls. How my heart goes out to them ๐ฅด
I'm in my 40s. The most scared/disoriented people in my network are the ones that have the following resume => went to an Ivy League school, went into consulting for Bain or BCG or investment banking for a bulge bracket bank then MBA at Harvard/Stanford and then career progression in high income tech W2 or hedge funds/private equity.
A number of these individuals in the last 5 years have been unexpectedly let go in their early 40s with 2-3 kids in private school and a burn rate they socially struggle to walk away from (kids have close friends now, business connections at the private school their kids go to, living in a high cost location makes it easier to network, etc).
These are the people literally have only been told they are excellent their entire lives and now are in year 3-4 (no exaggeration) of trying to land a new job. Some are willing to "settle" for working for mid 6 figures (some even less) just to cover their burn rate with a young family.
AI probably makes this dynamic happen earlier in one's career going forward for some of these perfect resumes individuals. Good chart from @Jack_Raines in his book Young Money
I listened to like 4 hours of podcasts per day and Iโm proud to say that exactly none of these are in my rotation
Iโm a caller. In my experience 90% donโt answer. Of that 90% about 1/3 call back, 1/3 text something like โsaw u called. wats upโ and 1/3 I never hear from
We need to bring back calling people.
Why have we normalized Calendly culture?
You want to talk to someone, so you send them a scheduling link, coordinate availability, and somehow end up speaking three weeks later.
Just pick up the phone and call them.
90 seconds. 120 seconds. Thatโs all you need to make an introduction, solve a problem, or move a deal forward.
Weโve created so much unnecessary bureaucracy around basic human interaction.
Call more people.
Meh. Iโll still be writing
a big take I've been noodling on and Iโm ready to call:
the newsletter is dead
@every's core business is a newsletter with 120k+ subscribers so I don't say this lightly.
persistent agents mean i dont look at my inbox
with dots (GrokBots, Muse, etc) I almost never look at my inbox. if I do it's for a specific thing I need to reply to.
i think in a year I'll be doing all of my email this way - fully filtered by my dot / something like it.
this is not new: it's a continuation of the trend of having a โnewsletterโ folder in Gmail, but 10x more filtered.
what it means
It doesnโt mean people won't read newsletters, but it does mean that getting a personโs email is no longer the guarantee that you have a relationship with them that it used to.
luckily, with persistent agents (and AI coding more generally) there is an entirely new playing field to build relationships with readers. instead of fighting to get an email address, publishers and creators will need to make sure we're installed in our reader's agent harness of choice, so that they get directly notified when we do something new.
we're already starting to experiment with this @every with our MCP and the frontier alerts we send users of our slack agent (every.to/agent)
it's also more affordable than ever for publishers and creators to build their own platform ecosystem: you can have your own website, app etc. and you can use AI to publish 100x more high-quality stuff to your communityโso we may see a world where many creators themselves are running their own little empires that have their own apps, feeds etc.
to be clear: It'll take a while before this actually happens, but the idea of getting someone's email creating a direct relationship with them is over.
here's a set of predictions I made 3 years ago about AI and media that panned out pretty well: every.to/chain-of-thought/weโฆ
Short, sweet, and beautiful. Great rec @tferriss

Posting here for accountability: if college football goes to a 24-team playoff I will be retiring my fandom
Iโve already got 1 foot out the door thanks to transfers, NIL, etc so this would be the last straw
As a mostly tortured Penn state fan, itโs prob for the best anyway
"This will fundamentally change the way we experience Saturdays." ๐
@slmandel explains why a 24-team playoff expansion will ruin the high-stakes magic of the regular season in a way that realignment and NIL never could.

Hey @Jack_Raines great ep on the prof G pod
Couldnโt agree more w/ recording consent. Something needs to be done before I get fired for punching out a Gen Z influencer
(Crazy thing is itโs already illegal in a few states, like PA. But itโs just not enforced?)
Anyway, nice job
2 days until my 2 y/o turns 3
I will never have a 2 y/o again
In some ways this is amazing
But itโs sad. Iโll miss this crazy little age forever
Hereโs my typical weekday (3 kids):
6am wake up & shower
630 start getting kids ready w wife
7 make breakfast
730 school dropoff
8 commute & work
5pm workout
630 get home & eat dinner
730 clean up / dishes / make lunches
8 bedtime routine begins
930 relax & read
10 my bedtime
Very little time for tv, relaxing, or even just having a convo w my wife
Itโs hectic and exhausting and frustrating at times, but wouldnโt trade it for anything. As @Camp4 says: these are the golden years
(a maid/butler/cook would be nice though)
Itโs not about what you know, itโs about who you know
Itโs not about who you know, itโs about whether or not they like you
Very solid list, but some big misses: Rome, Transparent, Sons of Anarchy, Entourage, Boardwalk Empire
Also - the rupaul show at 61?!?
