We're working up the results at the moment. Will be happy to share our comparison once we've had a chance dig into the data more closely.

Woohoo! Fridge temperatures reached -1°C, way below the MinION mk1d's typical range (+10°C to +35°C). Can it handle the cold for research in the field?
Will the mk1d sequence Alaskan soil samples in the field? Stay tuned! @nanopore #anythinganyoneanywhere
The MinION mk1b couldn't handle the cold. Looks like the mk1d might be a better fit for Alaskan soil research at these temperatures!
Great news! Despite the fridge reaching -1°C, the MinION mk1d seems to be holding its own internally! Check out the flow cell temperature.

Testing the limits for Alaskan soil microbes! Put a MinION mk1d to the fridge test (new! +10°C to +35°C range) to see how it compares to the mk1b. @nanopore

Where did this start? With a @nanopore hackathon xitter.cf/devindrown/status/1501… @miles_benton and additional support from @AlaskaINBRE @uafblast #AnythingAnyoneAnywhere
We’ve had a busy several weeks sifting through @nanopore sequencing generated from our Alaska Portable Genomics Hackathon. Students are now busy preparing a presentation for @uafairbanks Research Days. #GPUHackathon #anythinganyoneanywhere
She refined the analysis for her Capstone and released the preprint this summer biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… , Based on helpful peer review @GigaByteJournal we added another experimental test of the workflow for the published version
