It was during my interview with two ASML managers in early 2022, while I was still a Master’s student in Germany 🇩🇪. One of them looked at my CV and asked: “You graduated with your Bachelor’s degree in 2017. Why did it take you until 2020 to start your Master’s?” I loved that question because it gave me the opportunity to tell them my story and show them what it took for me to get to where I was at that moment. I told them I graduated in 2017, completed the compulsory one-year national service in Nigeria, and initially hoped to start an academic career. I tried to get retained as a lecturer, but it didn’t work out. I eventually returned to my local town and started teaching Physics and Mathematics. But I knew I wanted more. I wanted postgraduate education abroad, particularly somewhere I could get exposure to advanced scientific facilities and technology. The problem was simple: my family couldn’t afford to sponsor an international education for me. So scholarships became my only realistic route. I applied to different countries and different programs. I got rejected multiple times. But I kept searching, sending applications, contacting people, and improving my profile. Eventually, in 2020, Germany came through for me. I got the opportunity to move to Germany 🇩🇪 for my Master’s in Photonics. By the time I finished telling the story, I could see it in their faces — they really felt for me 😭😭😭 Dem go dey think, “This guy don suffer!” 😭😭😭😂😂 By the end of that interview, I told my girlfriend (now my wife) that “I’m getting this job.” 😂 I even started putting extra effort into my Master’s thesis experiments in the lab because I was already imagining myself joining the company after graduation. The next email I received was an invitation to another interview with some team members, and that one was very casual. Then I got the job 🎉🥰 They sent a moving truck to pack my belongings from Germany, booked my flight to the Netherlands 🇳🇱, and lodged me in a five-star hotel for about two months while I settled in. That question has stayed with me ever since because it reminded me that a gap on your CV isn’t necessarily an empty period. Sometimes, it contains one of the most important parts of your story. 💯 Image frame: First week at the job 🤩🤩🤩
What is the best question anyone has asked you in an interview?

In early 2024, Microsoft engineer Andres Freundaccidentally thwarted one of the most sophisticated cyberattacks in history. While testing an unstable version of Debian, he noticed a tiny 500ms delay in his SSH logins, a blip most people would ignore. Curiosity led him to find a massive backdoor hidden in XZ Utils, a standard data compression tool used by almost every Linux server on the planet. The deal here was : The backdoor targeted the SSH protocol, which is the primary way admins securely log into remote servers. If Freund hadn't spotted it, attackers would have gained a "master key" to bypass authentication and execute code with root privileges on billions of devices. The culprit (under the name "Jia Tan") spent two years building trust in the open-source community, slowly gaining enough "cred" to become a project maintainer and plant the malicious code. How It Was Resolved Once Freund confirmed the malicious code, he emailed the Debian security team and went public on the Openwall mailing liston March 29, 2024. Major Linux vendors like Red Hat, Fedora, and Debian immediately reverted to older, safe versions of the software. GitHub quickly suspended the compromised accounts and disabled the affected repository to stop the spread. A clean version (XZ Utils 5.6.2) was released in May 2024, effectively closing the vulnerability tracked as CVE-2024-3094. Essentially, the internet was saved from a "digital apocalypse" because one guy was annoyed that his computer felt half a second too slow.
remember when Andres Freund basically saved the entire internet because he noticed a 200ms delay for his SSH login?

One of the many insults Africans endure in foreign lands is provocatíve generalisation. I encountered it during a lecture. The topic was dietary assessment. The lecturer, a Japanese, was explaining how different populations are assessed, how data is collected. Pictorial slides of different methods across countries appeared on the screen. They were super clean; bright kitchens with well lit dining tables. Plates arranged neatly, portions measured with clean, washed hands. Then the next slide came up: Children with dark skin adorned in dirty torn clothes, bare feet on muddy ground. A dirty and unwashed hand measuring food with Plates that looked like they hadn’t seen soap in days. Nothing in the picture was allowed dignity. This, we were meant to understand, was Africa. I looked around in shock and everyone was nodding and writing down heaven knows what. The lecturer continued speaking. She talked about challenges, limitations, developing regions. But the slide remained. I raised my hand and asked if I could make an addition. She nodded. I cleared my throat ceremoniously and began, ‘This slide here is misleading. Africa is not a place of dirt and neglect. One image cannot define an entire continent.’ I saw the surprise on their faces but I continued on the spree. I talked about urban Africa. Middle class households. Supermarkets. Standardised dietary tools. Public health surveys that look nothing like that image. I asked why deprivation was the default visual language. Why dirt had to explain Africa. Why complexity was ignored. The lecturer nodded and said it was just an example, and that the intention wasn’t offensive. She changed the slide immediately and the lecture moved on. We had a presentation coming up the following week. I had spent hours preparing slides and notes. On the day of the presentation, each student came up, spoke, and at the end received polite and hearty accolades. It was my turn. I hurried through the main points. I didn’t linger on what everyone expected. Then I came to the slide I had saved for last. I asked the lecturer to please zoom it. She did and the picture filled the screen. It was unpleasant. A neglected urban area in Japan, where the lecturer came from. Broken pavements. Graffiti everywhere. Garbage piling on the sides. A few children standing around, scruffy and unkempt. A woman sitting near what looked like an overflowing bin. I let the image settle for a moment. ‘This,’ I said, ‘is how Asia in all its glory looks. It is a perfect example of public service neglect.’ I paused to measure the look on her face. And yes, it was exactly the reaction I was looking for. I continued. ‘You’ll notice the dirt. The disorder. The environment left to itself. The people living in it. It has become a way of life in Asia.’ And with that, my presentation came to a conclusion. I walked briskly back to my seat. No applause came. Not like the others received. And that was fine. Because this wasn’t about praise. It was about making the point sink. Chukwuemeka Onyemachi.

While everyone's waiting 5 years for Sora to generate one extremely woke and mediocre image, I built an agent that creates unlimited product variations in minutes. This digital sweatshop takes your product and drops it into any reference scene you want - no photographers, no studio rentals, no dealing with "creative differences." Perfect for anyone who needs 100+ product images but don't want to remortgage their house paying agencies. Here's what this n8n workflow does: → Pulls reference images from your Google Drive folder → Grabs all your product photos from another folder → Creates every possible combination automatically → Generates professional product scenes using AI → Saves all variations back to Drive, organised and ready Instead of spending $500 per product shot, you spend $0.03 per image and get infinite variations. While your competitors are: → Booking photographers for $2K shoots → Waiting weeks for "creative concepts" → Getting 10 images they hate → Dealing with revision cycles from hell You're getting: → Hundreds of product variations instantly → Consistent brand aesthetic across all images → Zero human drama or creative ego trips → Images that actually convert instead of "looking artistic" This thing runs 24/7. Feed it new reference scenes, and it automatically generates fresh product images while you sleep. E-commerce brands are about to realise they've been massively overpaying for something a weekend workflow can handle. Follow + RT + Comment "PRODUCT" and I'll send the JSON file that turns your Google Drive into an automated creative department. (Need to do all 3 or my agent won't find your handle to send the goods)

Developed a handy Technical Writer roadmap! It covers everything I know from writing and leading a team. While some of the steps are nice to have, completing this and ‘writing consistently’ is 🔥🔥 RT for reach, and link in the comments to appease the algo lords 😀👇

There are A LOT of Remix apps running on @flydotio, but it's missing deployments via git push You COULD use a github action Or you could use @p_mbanugo's FlyCD - preview deployments with badges+links in each PR - a nice dashboard to manage them flycd.dev/

An @amptdev user talks about a new hire: “I was able to onboard him, teach him Git and have him deploying production code to Ampt in well under an hour, the majority of which was non-Ampt-related learning. That is incredible!”
