is it normal to yearn to lean more anime-ish but being scared of losing my semi realistic art style

i love semi realism in the sense that the characters i draw look so different from eachother and i can accurately represent their ethnic features. however i am dumbfounded at more illustration ish pieces and the expressions that the anime style provides....sighhhh
