Scott Aaronson on GPT: “How can anyone stop being fascinated for long enough to be angry? … When was the last time something that filled years of your dreams and fantasies finally entered reality… ? That’s the scale of the thing.”

1. Re-upping this from yesterday afternoon. This is the CEO of Webull explaining clearly and unambiguously that his firm imposed buying bans on GME, AMC, and KOSS because clearinghouse collateral requirements had become too expensive.
Very interesting - Webull's CEO says that its clearing firm said it wouldn't settle trades in GameStop, AMC, and Koss because the volatility was making it too costly to do so.

Got my invite to the @OpenAI GPT-3 API from @gdb. I actually think it deserves more hype than it’s getting, but not necessarily for the magical reasons Twitter touts. Why? My quick thoughts and impressions: (1/11)

Madeleine Albright had her first real *job* at age 37. Michael Bloomberg started his company at age 39. Charles Darwin published “Origin of Species" at age 50. There's still time to do something big.

Below is a thread about the future of remote work after the COVID-19 pandemic is over. I predict that remote will go through a trough of sorrow due to hybrid not working out, and most companies will return to being office based. But many all remote companies will see success.

A reminder to people who are doing “gotcha” on either Neil Fergusson’s private life or Imperial model code as evidence that there was something misguided in the UK’s assessment of the extent of the Coronavirus outbreak and potential for excess deaths - leading to lockdown >>

Two recent studies from CA claim a large % of the pop. has already been exposed to #COVID19. Here's why you should be skeptical. The test they used cannot distinguish between COVID19 and other coronaviruses, such as HCOV-OC43: a strain of common cold. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article…

I don't think there's a way to say this diplomatically, but I think it's important to tell the truth: I have zero confidence in the Santa Clara serology study, and the recent work of Eran Bendavid generally.
