2B/SS Shai Robinson, Illinois State
Robinson is my pick to click this year. He's battled injuries in 2023 and 2024, but a full season could see his name shoved up boards.
Robinson has long boasted impressive bat-to-ball skills and zone awareness. He's twitchy in the box allowing a noisier load to work. He gets the head out and has inate feel for the barrel. Passivity at the plate can occassionally back him into pitchers' counts.
Robinson has soft hands and decisive actions on the dirt that should allow him to play shortstop at a high level this season. He's a fringy runner and doesn't possess an exceptionally quick first step, so he may end up at second or third base, but it's a plus throwing arm that'll serve fine in either spot. Keep an eye on this kid.
