Friends, in just two days, Christians were murdered on two continents. On Friday, gunmen opened fire on a funeral at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Karak, Jordan, and killed nine people. On Saturday, armed men attacked Orthodox churches and homes in Oromia, Ethiopia, and killed more than forty. These are not statistics. They are our brothers and sisters, members of the mystical Body of Christ. When Saul set out to destroy the Church, the risen Jesus asked him, “Why are you persecuting me?” The Lord is still being persecuted in these victims of anti-Christian violence. Christianity is by far the most persecuted religion in the world today. Those of us who worship in comfort have to ask what the deaths of these martyrs demand of us. At the very least, they demand that we pray for them, learn their names, press our leaders to act, and refuse to look away. The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.

6/Final hypothesis: The "typical" American Protestant attends a congregationalist church in polity, is Wesleyan-Arminian in theology, & is Charismatic in terms of worship & spiritual gifts. In this sense, @matthewschmitz is correct re strongest currents.

Why isn't the genocide of Christians in Nigeria by Muslims as important to Americans as Gaza/Palestine? Over 3,000 Christians have murdered in Nigeria in 2026. #FreeNigerianChristians
Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo cries as he has to bury another 7 Nigerian Christians murdered by Islamist Fulani militias. International mainstream media wasn’t there for the funeral. Again…

I'm baffled by what's happening at @CTmagazine. The layoffs, change of leadership and now this? If you're going to publicly question a public figure's sexuality, especially someone who's passed, you better have solid evidence as a basis for it. CT didn't. Then, publishing, removing and republishing. 🤦🏻‍♀️ This certainly does not inspire trust in either the new or old guard. roysreport.com/christianity-…

Only 46 measures. Approximately 4 minutes. Mozart wrote “Ave Verum Corpus” in June 1791 — near the end of his life. So simple it's almost bare, yet it contains the heavens. Leonardo Bernstein conducted it at Waldsassen Cathedral in 1990 — slowly, lovingly, as if unwilling to leave each note. A miracle in a small package.

Theologians like Watson are important as reminder that Methodism is more than John Wesley & is an ongoing tradition. Calvinists know their tradition. Wesleyans do not.
The Rev. Richard Watson (1781–1833) A Wesleyan Methodist minister, who wrote Theological Institutes which was one of the first books to systematize Wesleyan theology. Saw Anglicanism as 'mother of all' (Methodism) and strict Prayer Book adherence
