Perhaps most importantly, Dhruv’s own words capture what this honour represents: not a destination, but a reminder of the responsibility to keep serving. We are proud to stand alongside you, Dhruv, and to celebrate this extraordinary recognition with you and your family.

A very useful meeting with Sir Richard Broadbent, Chair of HM Courts & Tribunals Service, in my capacity as High Sheriff of Greater London. We discussed the operational challenges facing the courts, including productivity, the interaction between HMCTS and other criminal justice agencies, and how digital technology can support a more effective and accessible service. This included the role of online hearings, better use of devices such as tablets, and the careful application of artificial intelligence. We also considered the consequences of sustained and overwhelming demand: where operational improvements can make a difference, where changes in policy may be required, and where adequate focus and more fundamental structural reform may ultimately be necessary. My thanks to Sir Richard for a thoughtful and wide-ranging discussion about the future of our courts and tribunals. #HighSheriff #GreaterLondon #HMCTS #Courts #CriminalJustice #DigitalJustice #PublicService

A valuable meeting with Charlie Taylor, HM Chief Inspector of Prisons, in my capacity as High Sheriff of Greater London. We discussed some of the most persistent challenges facing prisons and those leaving custody, including addiction, homelessness, living conditions, access to employment on release and the importance of strong links with the voluntary and charitable sectors. I was also interested to hear more about the Inspectorate’s work, how its reports can help inform wider understanding and action, and its recent inspection of court custody facilities and cells. My thanks to Charlie for a thoughtful and wide-ranging conversation, and for the important independent scrutiny undertaken by HM Inspectorate of Prisons. #HighSheriff #GreaterLondon #Prisons #CriminalJustice #Rehabilitation #PublicService

A memorable evening at @HonSocGraysInn for my first drinks reception as High Sheriff of Greater London. In such a historic setting, it was a privilege to bring together civic leaders, charities, youth organisations, public bodies, funders and community partners united by a shared commitment to supporting young Londoners. The video captures what I hoped the evening would be about: conversation, connection and collaboration. Across the room were people working in different ways, but with a common purpose — helping young people feel safe, valued and able to fulfil their potential. A particular thank you to @LibPeck, Director of @LDN_VRU, for her thoughtful remarks on trusted relationships, early intervention, community-led work and the need to address the deeper barriers facing young people. During my year as High Sheriff of Greater London, I hope to shine a light on the extraordinary work already taking place across our capital, recognise those who serve quietly and consistently, and help build connections between those working to create safer and more hopeful futures for young people. My thanks to everyone who joined us, and to Gray’s Inn for providing such a fitting and generous setting. @steelwarriorsuk @StreetDoctors @TheClinkCharity @London_cf @EastEnd_CF @CityBridgeFndn @mayorofbarnet @MayorOfLambeth @HillingdonMayor @TeliYogesh @_PureConsulting #HighSheriff #GreaterLondon #YouthViolencePrevention #YouthOpportunity #PublicService #Community – at Stratford, London

It was a privilege to take part at the front of the @PrideInLondon Parade as High Sheriff of Greater London. For me, this was both joyful and reflective. I grew up in Hackney, opposite Victoria Park, and still remember Pride being held there in 1995 for its 25th anniversary. One of my mum’s friends and work colleagues took part. At the same time, I also remember the casual homophobic comments that were common at school and in everyday conversation. Looking back, it is striking how far we have come — and also a reminder that progress is never automatic. Pride is a celebration, but it is also about visibility, safety, dignity and belonging, and about marching against the discrimination that still exists here and around the world. London is at its best when people are able to be themselves openly, proudly and without fear. It was wonderful to be there alongside so many communities, charities, volunteers and public servants, including the @MayorofLondon, Sir @SadiqKhan. Particular thanks to my very good friend Dhiren Doshi-Smith, and to @switchboardLGBT, the charity where he volunteers, for organising my place. Thank you also to Dhiren’s partner, my former colleague at the @CityofLondon, Graeme Doshi-Smith, for taking the photographs. I was honoured to attend their wedding at Guildhall — seven years ago — and it felt especially meaningful to be together again on such an important day. Thank you to everyone who made Pride in London such a powerful, joyful and generous expression of the city we all share. #PrideInLondon #HighSheriffOfGreaterLondon #London #Community #Inclusion #Belonging – at London, England

Digital access is no longer a luxury — it is essential for learning, confidence and opportunity. It was a real privilege to join @EastEnd_CF (EECF), @LETTA_Trust and partners as High Sheriff of Greater London at @PE_Columbia to mark a major milestone in the EECF Connecting Communities programme. At Columbia Primary School, 30 laptops were presented to pupils identified as most in need — and the programme also celebrated the delivery of its 2000th device to a family in Tower Hamlets. What began as a targeted response to digital exclusion during the pandemic has grown into a powerful cross-sector partnership supporting thousands of families across East London with devices, broadband, IT training and ongoing support. I was particularly struck by the joy and excitement of the pupils receiving their Chromebooks. These are not just devices. They are tools for homework, creativity, curiosity and opportunity. As I said to the pupils, wherever you have come from, it should never limit your dreams or your ambitions. Huge congratulations to East End Community Foundation, Columbia Primary School, The LETTA Trust, @HarcaPoplar, @TowerHamletsNow, @NorthernTrust, @CommunityFibre and all the partners and supporters who have made this milestone possible. A wonderful example of civic, charitable, public and private sector partnership making a practical difference to children and families. #HighSheriff #GreaterLondon #EastLondon #TowerHamlets #DigitalInclusion #ConnectingCommunities #SocialMobility #Education #Community – at London, England

One of the most important duties of the High Sheriff is to organise Justice Awards ceremonies, recognising members of the public who have helped bring offenders to justice. On Tuesday 2 June 2026, I was honoured to host my first High Sheriff of Greater London Justice Awards Ceremony at Inner London Crown Court, bringing together the judiciary, police, emergency services, civic leaders, award recipients and their families. The Justice Awards recognise ordinary members of the public who have assisted the courts, often in difficult or dangerous circumstances. This year, Hasan Mashood and Maria Sophia Yumil were recognised for their bravery following the Christmas Day 2024 West End attack. Mr Mashood remained calm and immediately assisted police by reporting the offender's movements, while Ms Yumil stayed at the scene, made careful notes and prepared a map which later assisted the trial. Felix May also received a Justice Award for his courageous and quick-thinking actions following a serious sexual offence in south-west London. Then a schoolboy, Felix acted swiftly to help identify and follow the suspect, assisting others until police arrived. As I said at the ceremony, the strength of our society does not rest solely with institutions. It rests with individuals: people who choose to help, speak up and take responsibility. My sincere congratulations to all three recipients. #HighSheriff #JusticeAwards #RuleOfLaw #GreaterLondon

On the same evening, I was delighted to present 13 High Sheriff of Greater London Youth Awards, recognising nine @LFBFireCadets and four @stjohnambulance Cadets. These awards celebrate character rather than academic or sporting achievement. They recognise young people who have demonstrated resilience, kindness, leadership, responsibility and service to others. This year's recipients were recognised for mentoring younger cadets, supporting peers with additional needs, volunteering hundreds of hours in their communities, promoting inclusion, improving community safety, fundraising for charitable causes and overcoming personal challenges while continuing to serve others. I was particularly pleased that this is the first time in recent memory that the Youth Awards have recognised cadets from both the London Fire Brigade and St John Ambulance, reflecting the remarkable contribution these organisations make to developing the next generation of community leaders. My thanks to HHJ Michael Evans KC and everyone at Inner London Crown Court for hosting the ceremony, and to LL Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE, SPJ Lord Justice Green, Commander Caroline Haines, Dep Asst Commissioner Richard Field, Emilio Chiquito JP and @USGLondon for joining us to celebrate these outstanding young Londoners. Congratulations to every recipient. #HighSheriff #YouthAwards #Cadets #LondonFireBrigade #StJohnAmbulance #GreaterLondon

This short highlights reel features a selection of clips from my recent full interview with @anmolkaurpuri1 on GTC Punjabi UK (Sky Channel 770). We discussed the historic role of the High Sheriff of Greater London, supporting the justice system and emergency services, engaging with young people, and the importance of bringing communities together across one of the world's most diverse cities. I also reflected on growing up in Hackney, my journey into public service, and why I remain optimistic about London's future and the opportunities it offers. My thanks to Anmol and the team at GTC Punjabi UK for the opportunity to share the work being undertaken during my year in office. #HighSheriff #GreaterLondon #PublicService #CommunityLeadership #YouthEngagement #London #Justice
