In a new paper, we use network analysis to examine community disputes in post-civil war Mozambique. By analyzing a range of conflicts, from domestic disputes to wartime accusations, we reveal the deep-rooted tensions that persist in the region. sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Wow, there's a bit of interest for our methodological definition of mindset streams, i.e. considering conflicting, positive and negative paths of conceptual associations in semantic networks. Read the published paper here from our CogNosco Lab: sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Feeling let down by the latest paper review. Only one out of 5 reviewers provided a thoughtful critique, while the others gave generic comments (in < 2 lines) or suggested irrelevant citations (12 of his unrelated works). Is the quality of reviews diminishing in some fields?

We must have written the most controversial paper of all time because 11 reviewers couldn't get enough of it! Unfortunately, the editor kindly rejected it. On the bright side, we'll never have to deal with trying to address a million comments and suggestions!

In this paper we check if full-text content can be used to predict if a book will be a best-seller or not. We found it is possible to achieve an acceptable level of predictions using doc2vec. We also explore a few ways to interpret the results via SemAxis and by using metadata.
Our new preprint is out: "Using full-text content to characterize and identify best seller books." arxiv.org/abs/2210.02334
