A $3.9B AI compute valuation. ✅️
$100M+ already into Indian satellite constellations. 🛰
$ fixed deposits still yielding ~6.5%. ✅️
Gulf family offices and NRI capital are getting highly selective on India: skipping broad equities and pivoting hard into sovereign AI infrastructure and deep-tech hardware:
1. Sovereign AI Compute
• Yotta (Hiranandani) is in the market for a $150–200M pre-IPO raise.
• Dubai roadshow drew strong interest from both NRI diaspora and local families, expecting $30–35M in regional commitments.
• Builds on the $150M raised earlier this year at a $3.9B valuation to scale GPU clusters ahead of a planned Q1 2027 listing.
2. Orbital Infrastructure
• Pixxel is actively exploring further fundraising in the UAE for its commercial hyperspectral Earth-observation constellation.
• Comes right after its landmark $100M Series C co-led by Temasek and Seraphim, cementing global appetite for Indian space-tech.
3. The Realignment
• Rupee headwinds and attractive USD yields have cooled generic emerging-market risk appetite.
• Instead of broad index beta or consumer plays, Gulf liquidity is concentrating in high-barrier, asset-heavy moats: GPU clusters, data centres, and satellite constellations that underwrite sovereign capability.
The Strategic Readout:
Smart money is no longer treating India as generic emerging-market exposure.
The new playbook is selective allocation into strategic infrastructure: the physical layer of AI and space sovereignty.

The UAE rewrote its VAT rules on September 28, and Indian companies had three days to figure it out | Indian companies operating in the UAE across manufacturing, construction, retail, hospitality and logistics are reassessing operating costs, staff contracts and tax claims as revised VAT rules effective October 1 have narrowed the scope for recovery of employee spending, with potential additional costs running into hundreds of thousands of dirhams annually for labour-intensive businesses, after the Federal Tax Authority published detailed conditions just three days before the new rules took effect, with international tax advocate Priyanshi Chokshi flagging that "a crucial threshold for cash transactions remained unspecified"

The man who saw 2008 coming now says the next few decades belong to India | Economist Nouriel Roubini, who earned the nickname "Dr Doom" after warning about the 2008 Global Financial Crisis in 2006 at the IMF when much of Wall Street was optimistic, told ET that India is a "major success story with the potential to become an even bigger one" and that the next few decades could be about India as much as the past several decades were about China

Pleasantly surprised to see this iconic photograph in @bsindia today, as part of a wonderful piece chronicling 35 years of Hyderabad’s transformation. In 1997, I had the opportunity to make a presentation to Bill Gates on why Microsoft should choose Hyderabad. That meeting eventually led to Microsoft setting up its first development centre outside the United States in Hyderabad.
The rest, as they say, is history. Hyderabad’s journey is a reminder that transformative change begins with a bold vision, backed by persistence and policy consistency over decades. I’m enclosing more pictures from the archive here -

Since September 2025, several taxes have been re-labelled under the GST umbrella. This has made headline GST collections look stronger, even though the underlying revenue performance has been much weaker.
Our analysis shows:
• Headline GST growth in Q1 FY27 was 10.5%, but actual GST growth was only 4.9% after accounting for revenues that have merely been reclassified.
• Net GST revenues have fallen sharply from 9.4% of GDP in FY25 to 5.8% in FY26 and 4.9% in Q1 FY27.
• States could lose ₹15,000–20,000 crore annually, as revenues from the new Additional Excise Duty remain outside the divisible GST pool.

Gross GST of Rs. 2 trillion led Govt to claim growth of 14.8% in August & 11% in 5 months. Govt played a trick though. 2025-26 GST Cess has been quietly excluded. When included, 5 month gross GST growth becomes 4.08% and net 1.30%, a pathetic performance. deccanherald.com/opinion/gst…
