🚨 When you're out at your favorite restaurant this Holiday Labor Day Weekend know this, 1/2 of Texas Restaurants are NOT making money! Kelsey Erickson Streufert @KelseyJErickson with Texas Restaurants Association @TXRestaurants testified in my Senate Local Government Committee that 50% of their members aren’t making any money in the Restaurant Business in Texas! So support your favorite, but also know they're under tremendously stupid local government regulatory burdens. Them losing money hasn't stopped Cities especially from slapping crazy fees on them like, get this…🕯️"CANDLE fees"🕯️…LITERALLY! 🤯
Texas cities @TML_Texas don't need to be burning up 🔥 restaurant owners & their customer's hard-earned cash 🤑 by doing an open flame count! Really, the restaurant business is tough enough!
What do you think? Like or share if you think we should file legislation in #txlege to address this.
P.S. This slide was presented in committee showing Austin BBQ joints have to charge $19/20 a BBQ Sandwich to just make money! SEE 📸

When local businesses accept credit card payments, a percentage of every sale goes to the credit card duopoly as “swipe fees.” US swipe fees are ~8x what they pay in Europe, driving up costs for every Texan–and cutting into small business’ profits they need to continue to thrive.

This is what it looks like when you support small businesses. ❤️
This Small Business Saturday, show these hard-working teams extra support by paying with cash or debit when you visit their restaurants, instead of credit cards. 1/2

Ann Richards once said: “After all, Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred Astaire did. She just did it backwards and in high heels.”
Today, on her birthday, she’s still an inspiration to many Texas Democratic women who continue to lead with grit — and sometimes a little humor — through all the bullshit the GOP throws our way. ✊🏽💃🏽 #txlege #texaswomen

#NEW: Today, we joined @TXRestaurants & @nfib_tx in calling on the #txlege to expand the emergency bridge loan program for small businesses in light of the urgent need to provide relief & support for businesses impacted by recent natural disasters.
“Legislators have an important opportunity to step up by streamlining and accelerating the process for small businesses to access disaster recovery loans, and we applaud Senator @CarolforTexas and Chairwoman @AngieChenButton for their leadership by filing Senate Bill 26 and House Bill 109 to meet the needs of small business owners who are beginning to rebuild.”

Farmers and the hospitality industry are critical to feeding America… we cannot have empty grocery shelves and skyrocketing food prices.. which will ultimately lead to more company failures.
