I sent a letter to MIT Lincoln Laboratory in May requesting the “Flying Saucer Talk” recording. Today, that tape was released through the Department of War’s PURSUE program. This is exactly why we’ve kept pushing to find and release these historical records. More than 70 years ago, the Air Force was investigating UAPs near some of our nation’s most sensitive facilities, with radar returns indicating extraordinary speeds. We asked for the tape. Now the American people can hear it for themselves.
Likely the most significant record in today’s federal government UAP records release is the audio and transcript of a recording of a 1952 talk on then-recent UFO data and events by Captain Edward Ruppelt, the head of the US Air Force’s Project Blue Book in the early 1950s. The Sol Foundation will be reading and analyzing the record of this presentation as you do, and we’ll present our comments publicly soon. We again thank @RepEricBurlison and his staff for locating and declassifying this material.

Disclosure is Happening Now: The White Sands “orb” and “luring” incidents are truly extraordinary. It may not feel like it, but government acknowledgment of these “fiery orb” incidents is a subtle form of disclosure. (“Foo fighters” date back to at least WWII) @disclosurefound
Clearly, the US government is well aware of the “fiery orb” UFO phenomenon. Spherical objects, for which no prosaic explanations fit the data, have also been observed on military sensors (post below). Identical phenomena have been reported since at least WWII (“foo fighters”).

IT ONLY TAKES *ONE* UFO CASE As I stated publicly, I challenge *anyone* to review (1) the verifiable 3D geometric data and (2) the clear falsification of the only viable prosaic theories for the “Gimbal” video. There is no doubt that “Gimbal” is anomalous. H/t @disclosurefound
IMPORTANT: New discoveries in the ‘Gimbal’ UAP Video *DEFINITIVELY* Falsify the ‘Glare’ and ‘Distant Jet’ Theories The object conducted extraordinary maneuvers despite lacking wings or apparent means of propulsion. Video: youtube.com/watch?v=hk_cuDp3… @DoW_AARO H/t: @ZaineMichael1

This excellent @TIME cover story is another example of the remarkable progress being made in bringing serious discussion of UAP into the mainstream. One of our objectives at @DisclosureFound has been to ensure that credible people, in credible forums, could speak credibly about this issue. Seeing that effort reflected on the cover of Time is an important milestone. Much remains to be done, but this represents genuine progress.
After decades of secrecy and stigma, the government has at last begun taking UAPs (formerly called UFOs) seriously—and for good reason time.com/article/2026/08/06/…

My segment on CBS linked below. Key takeaway: Based on publicly available information, we can conclude that the December 2025 incursions in the Southern US were the result of a UAP "luring" operation. Not only was the operation "very successful", it was briefed to a member of the Gang of 8 (Scalise). So the astounding conclusion is not only that the USG knows these objects are real, but also that they have tech / methods with a now proven capability to lure these objects.

🧵 We have released a new policy brief, Concrete Next Steps for UAP Disclosure, authored by @ChrisKMellon, Adm. @GallaudetTim, and Kirk McConnell. The brief argues that disclosure should now move along three concrete lines of effort: release compelling UAP documentation and sensor data, disclose the government’s intelligence analyses, and reveal evidence of crash-retrieval, reverse-engineering, and related programs.

I chaired the first open hearing on UAPs—Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena—4 years ago. At the time, UAPs were disregarded as science fiction. Today, some of the nation’s leading experts in policy, research, and science are engaged in serious conversations about transparency and oversight. Thank you to the @disclosurefound for hosting this important gathering.

The other day I was asked by an Administration official what my priorities would be for release of UAP information. I replied as follows: 1) UAP Space Data UAP detected in space, either in orbit or entering and departing the Earth’s atmosphere. I believe we have such data yet nothing of this kind has been released. We have numerous systems performing space surveillance, including the world’s most powerful radars. The power, sophistication and range of those systems leads me to believe they must inevitably collect and track UAP. 2) Satellite Data This is another category of UAP data that has not been released to date. I’ve seen some of this imagery and what I’ve seen was impressive. Although typically highly classified, under present circumstances, with pressure from the White House, it may well be possible to release some or all of this overhead UAP data. 3) UAP Data from the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System The old Ballistic Missile Early Warning System has been continuously updated since the end of the Cold War to its current condition. These are believed to be the most powerful emitters on the planet. Further, numerous UAP encounters have clearly occurred within their areas of coverage. For example, during the Nimitz incident numerous UAP were descending from roughly 80,000 ft to 20,000 feet, in mere seconds, for several days, directly in front of the powerful strategic radar at Beale Air Force Base. Yet, none of this data has been released. Data from each of these systems could appreciably add to our knowledge of the UAP phenomenon. I’m hoping they have the latitude and determination needed to come clean with this information.

While it's tempting to put a microscope on each file / image / video released today, let's be clear about what's happening: the U.S. government is now telling us — through multiple agencies, across multiple releases — that there are objects in our airspace with capabilities beyond anything we've built. That's not fringe. That's now the official position. #UAP
The first War Department UFO file release gives the public a structured look at the records now entering view. We reviewed the release index and broke down the early takeaways: 162 records, multiple agencies, historical archives, modern military reports, FBI materials, NASA files, and key questions for future releases. • 162 total records • 120 PDFs • 28 videos • 14 images • 108 marked redacted • All released on May 8, 2026 Agency breakdown: • 82 Department of War • 56 FBI • 12 NASA • 8 State Department • 4 with no agency listed The big split is historical vs. modern. Historical: FBI files, NASA transcripts/photos, State Department cables, Cold War-era UFO reports. Modern: AARO-linked military reports, still imagery from US systems, FBI 302 interviews, and a 2023 Western US event summary. The modern operational material is one of the most important parts. The first drop includes 93 entries mentioning AARO and 81 involving MISREPs or mission reports. That means much of this release is tied to formal government reporting channels, not just old newspaper clippings. The video batch includes 28 video records. Most are labeled as unresolved UAP reports, with incidents across the Middle East, Syria, Iraq, the Arabian Gulf, Greece, Djibouti, Japan, the East China Sea, Indo-PACOM, North America, and the Southern US. One especially notable cluster: 32 FBI photo records from late 2025. These involve still images derived from US government or military systems, submitted to AARO, with operators reportedly unable to positively identify the objects. Many lack accompanying mission reports. Another notable item: a Western US Event summary. It describes seven federal employees reporting UAP observations over two days in 2023, including “orbs launching other orbs,” a large stationary glowing orb, a pursuit near the ground, and a translucent kite-like phenomenon. There is also an FBI 302 interview with a senior US intelligence official describing a late-2025 UAP encounter at a US military facility, including a “super-hot” orb, a helicopter pursuit, and additional lights/orbs flaring up and down across the area. The historical material still matters. The release includes 18 parts of the FBI’s 62-HQ-83894 case file, plus NASA material from Gemini, Apollo, and Skylab, and State Department cables from Papua New Guinea, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Turkmenistan, and Mexico. This release does not answer the biggest questions about UAP. But it does reinforce why a serious public archive is necessary: standardized metadata, sensor provenance, chain-of-custody details, classification rationale, and sustained Congressional oversight. The next question is whether future releases include the full-resolution sensor data, collection context, analysis history, classification rationale, and the specific videos Congress has already asked to see.

I know there's a lot else going on in the news today, but given that those major developments likely won't slow down anytime soon, I still wanted to share my initial thoughts on the President's intent to release all documentation pertaining to UAP and extraterrestrial life: First, there is already more than enough evidence in the public record for a reasonable person to suspect that non-human technology is operating in Earth's skies and oceans and has been since at least WWII. What is lacking is an irrefutable smoking gun linking these craft to non-human intelligence. Second, disclosure is not going to be the result of someone combing through stacks of UAP documents released to the National Archives as presently required by law. No agency head is going to release a bombshell of this magnitude in a data dump at the National Archives. They are going to take any information confirming non-human intelligence straight to the White House for guidance. Even in the absence of confirmation, a build-up of credible UAP photos and videos may ignite a national conversation that eventually requires the President to engage in more direct and extensive public discussions regarding UAP. The President's initiative will benefit science, historians, the military, and the public. The more data that is released the better, recognizing however that some "UAP" information is actually blue force technology that does need to be protected. Yet, the wholesale release of UAP files dating as far back as WWII will inevitably help to advance the cause of disclosure, which involves nothing less than revealing some of the most sensitive information in the hands of the US government. I expect a rather long process, one that may feel like water torture to some UAP researchers. Hopefully, Congress will recognize the enormous stakes involved and work to ensure full compliance with the President's initiative. This is clearly a historic development, one that has the potential to open many minds. The Disclosure Foundation (@disclosurefound) is committed to making the most of this opportunity.

To the extent they follow through, this is an enormously positive development, and I commend the Administration for taking this step. That said, virtually all relevant documents are classified, and identifying and declassifying them will be a lengthy, complex process. My concern is that an executive branch effort, if snarled in turf fights and classification nuances, could end up being misleadingly partial or incomplete, as we've seen recently with other unrelated disclosure efforts. I'd encourage Congress to support the Administration's intent by enacting a legislative framework that concretely structures, authorizes, and directs a comprehensive disclosure process, both to encourage and to help the Trump Administration actually get this done.
"Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs)..." - President Donald J. Trump
