I have a theory that there’s a more or less fixed quantity of linguistic taboos and so once people started swearing all the time and in front of my kids they had to come down hard on “retarded” and “master bedroom” etc. to maintain the balance.
A lot of this looks bad for nutrition even if it's good for weight loss. People should eat more eggs, milk, meat, and vegetables! "Meat snacks" probably is not great, though it's better than chips and ice cream.
What weight loss drug users eat more and less of.
FT also estimates weight loss drugs benefit the fitness and health/beauty industries.

The absolute funniest thing in the official Scrabble dictionary is *by far* their inconsistent stance on cheeses:
Oh hahaha, I love to see “F*ck” in every third self-help book title at Barnes & Noble. I’m a gynecologist who says “people with ovaries”.
You know, it’s funny, about seven years ago my husband and I were hit head on by a DUI crossing the middle line, our car crumpled like a pop can, we would have died if my husband hadn’t swerved. The guy had already had a DUI and been to rehab. They sent him to rehab again. 🤷♀️

The replies here have made me realize how lucky I am to have a family where this is my biggest complaint. No, I will not be spanking or force-feeding or starving or leaving my husband or children because they don’t like fish or whatever. Life is too good to be that mad.
Replying to @AndreaAmati9
My husband and kids have strong and conflicting preferences that make it deeply annoying. They don’t want to eat the same six meals, they don’t like leftovers, they don’t like a dozen common ingredients, dietary restrictions, etc. I’d love just to feed them gruel from now on.
I’ve heard enough 911 calls at this point to be confident that the current protocol is wrong and bad. Is there a company working with law enforcement and dispatchers on an empirically validated SOP?
Bend, Oregon man who shot and killed a shooter at his daughters' school speaks out, praises female teacher for fighting the shooter, allowing him to have a clear shot.
Kaylub Giamanco says he is haunted by the sound of children pleading for their lives.
He also praised the teacher for grabbing the gunman's weapon, allowing him to take a shot at the shooter.
"I want to recognize [the teacher]. She gave me the opportunity to make my shot without losing my life..."
"I swung the door open, and I stepped in, and I fired, and they dropped to the ground... I looked down at the gunman, and he was scrambling for his weapon. And I looked at him, and I shot him 2 more times..."
There is obviously critical information to get from callers, I’d guess nature of emergency and location being first and second, but then after that the questions seem to be driven by the dispatcher’s curiosity, istg. Seems like we could come up with something better, and mine millions of old transcripts for data.
Oh so you can just go on the internet and lie, I see.
- women’s egg quantity and quality both decline with age, though odds of getting pregnant naturally in a year are fairly good until ~40 even though odds are higher in 20s/early 30s
- after age 40 egg quality is the biggest factor for infertility and miscarriage, though sperm quality does matter
- at age 40 you have about a 5% chance of conceiving in a given month, and 50% chance of miscarriage. Sperm quality is a relatively unimportant factor at that point.
- women do get pregnant at age 40 naturally, but not often
- after 45 natural pregnancies happen but are rare, miscarriage risk is greater than 50%, and genetic problems are much more common because of egg quality
- I don’t see the point of lying. It would be heartbreaking to be 45 thinking you could have a baby just to find out how low your odds are even with assistive technology. Even by age 40 success rates with IVF are much higher with a donor egg or your own eggs retrieved at a younger age.
- these are probabilities, not absolute rules. We all know somebody who got pregnant naturally at 47, doesn’t mean that’s typical
Finally women are being studied and now we are finding out that the women (egg )doesn't really have a biological clock it's the men who do...... Quality of a man's sperm is responsible for most miscarriages. Over time, The egg quality remains the same but quantity drops, but for a man (sperms) quality drops and quantity remains the same!....wheww
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Both egg quantity and quality decline with women's age, reducing fertility and increasing miscarriage risk from chromosomal abnormalities. Sperm quality also declines with men's age and is associated with increased miscarriage risk. news.yale.edu/2026/10/23/new… jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/… academic.oup.com/humupd/article…
They/thems catching strays in this is what’s most funny
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.
I knew a guy who broke up with his girlfriend because she wore Uggs nonstop. Arizona, 2003.
Not only do I not know what Laura means in the 3rd most spoken language, I don’t know what that language is. Don’t care either, Laura is a beautiful name, more babies should get that one.
