Some of you may know I was in the UK in June this year for my grandmother's funeral. Last month, the BBC Licence enforcement goons started sending nastygrams about the lack of a TV Licence. This is the email that my uncle sent them. 🤣

A Hampshire couple have been fined £600 and ordered to pay a further £6,000 in costs for allowing their 14-year-old son to work on the family's mobile food trailer.
Dexter, their son, enjoys it and has a passion for it.
That’s typical of the laws in this country. Encourage the work shy and penalise the hard working.
As if the stress on this family weren’t enough the family said they were tackling the dispute with the council while supporting eldest son Oskar, 17, while he received treatment for blood cancer.

There must be NO financial reparations for slavery….EVER.
Slavery happened hundreds of years ago and NO ONE living in Britain now has anything to do with it.
Britain was the country leading the fight for the abolition of slavery.
The Royal Navy spent years chasing down slave ships and lost hundreds of lives in the operation.
Between 1800 and 1860, the Royal Navy seized 1,600 slave ships and freed 150,000 slaves, losing more than 1,500 sailors in the process.
Not only that, it cost Britain an enormous amount of money,
and the UK went into debt which was only finally paid off in 2015.
Britain has NOTHING to apologise for, indeed we should be immensely proud of what we did, and WE should be the ones getting thanks and reparations for what we did.

Replying to @andyburnham
@andyburnham don’t forget when you are grovelling and apologising for slavery don’t forget to also mention that the U.K. went into debt and many of our people died to stop it!
Pathetic

Burnham demands answers as 12,000 Poundland jobs at risk.
Here's one: when you tax business to death, you kill jobs.

You could take 400 random, soon to be unemployed, minimum wage workers from @Poundland and they would run the country better than the 400 theatre kids in @andyburnham s @UKLabour government.

The pilot that landed the plane Captain Steven is from Fiji. In the picture, he is in the middle.
The crew of flydubai Flight 1073 were honored for their “courage and professionalism in ensuring the safety of passengers and securing the aircraft.” At the heart of that story are 3 pilots.
The first is the captain, Smit Machchhar. On September 30, his Boeing 737 was flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv when his own co-pilot turned on him, left him badly injured and pushed the jet into a dive. It plunged 17,000 feet in less than a minute.
“I was in and out of consciousness frequently,” Machchhar said later. But he told himself: “Do something.” He managed to unlock the cockpit door from inside, and passengers rushed in and stopped the co-pilot.
The other 2 were flydubai pilots traveling in the cabin that day. They were only on board to fly the aircraft back to Dubai. Later reporting identified them as South African and New Zealand citizens.
They rushed into the cockpit and took over a crippled jet. The dive had torn away part of the rudder. Passenger Almog Itali said the 2 pilots “entered (the cockpit) and pulled the aircraft up, pulled the yoke, stabilised the plane and landed us in Saudi Arabia.”
They flew it for more than an hour and landed safely in Tabuk. Everyone on board survived. According to Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry, 174 passengers and 8 crew members were on board.
Machchhar was treated in Tabuk, then moved to Abu Dhabi. The 2 pilots who landed the plane have never been publicly named. Flydubai has described them only as crew members traveling on the plane.
A passenger later called the people who saved that flight “angels upon earth.”
Not to minimize the life-saving actions of these pilots, but is it really necessary to completely erase the heroic and quick-thinking actions of the Israeli civilians who rushed the cockpit, neutralized the perp and stabilized the plane? Everybody would have died if they hadn’t stood up like that. We can honor both the pilots and the civilians.
The whole episode is worthy of a Hollywood feature
The bravery of the untrained lsraeli civilians by fighting and subduing the terrorist and then stabilizing the plane is worthy of a new Nobel prize category......valour
One of the passengers, an Israeli (Jewish) plumber who first stabilized the aircraft by pulling up on the yoke in the cockpit and thereby pulling the plane out of it's dive before the two deadhead pilots took over.
There was more to this story than these 3 pilots. 1st on pilot who did everything in his power to stop a terror attack. Than a group of Israeli passengers who raced in, pulled the nose up and obtained the terrorist and one doctor who made sure the pilot kept awake until the 2 deadhead pilots landed. All of these heroes avoided a catastrophic event.
Rowan Tooth, a South African pilot originally from Kimberley, who was later awarded the UAE's First Class Order of Zayed II for his bravery.” was one of the pilots.

Nothing highlights the fiscal failure of this government more starkly than the plight of Poundland. The chain's 600 stores and 12,000 workers sit on the verge of collapse, not because its customers have walked away - Poundland's sales grew by 6.7% in September - but because of this government's unaffordable tax rises, which makes it impossible to run a business that works on slim profit margins to keep its prices down for its customers. How ironic that a government preaching about helping the least well-off is forcing a company out of business that does just that.

Local piemaker explains how Burnham's first Budget will make things much worse:
"I don’t qualify for the business rates relief because I’m multi-site… I’ve got two shops, so I don’t qualify. The minimum wage has increased. I’m not saying we shouldn’t pay staff. I’m saying we can’t afford to pay them…
All my staff have been with us for years. So I’m going to have approximately a £700 a week increase. My suppliers are having an increase too. My supply bills are around £20,000 to £30,000 a week. That’ll go up 10%, so £2,000 to £3,000 a week. So that’s £4,000 a week I’ve got to find…
That’s about 20,000 to 30,000 pies a week. So my costs have gone up. I’ve got no business rates relief. The National Insurance is crippling me. The energy crisis is crippling me. I’m going to have to put my prices up,
Customers are going to get mad. I’m going to get less profit. As a family, as a director, I’ve got to take a 2% cut. So my family, my one-year-old girl. I’m taking a pay cut. The business is taking a pay cut.
How is that breathing room for me? Where’s my breathing space? John Healey, if you’re listening, where’s my breathing space? You promised me. You promised the UK breathing space. Where is it?"

The Chancellor has just delivered his latest Budget where he admits Britain is desperately short of money, and is struggling to find enough to finance our people, business and public services.
Despite having eye watering levels of debt, apparently Britain can still find £14billion to throw away to other countries in Foreign Aid.
Can someone PLEASE explain this stupidity to me.
