A mimo to, gdy większość ludzi słyszy „szkocka kuchnia”, widzi deep-fried Mars bar, haggisa i wszystko smażone w głębokim tłuszczu.
A potem stajesz w Oban (nazywany bramą do wysp) czyli stolicy owoców morza Szkocji i stajesz w kolejce do zielonej budki na molo przy terminalu promów CalMac. Oban Seafood Hut, znany jako Green Shack.
Założył go w 1990 roku rybak John Ogden, gdy ceny krewetek spadły na łeb. Zamiast sprzedawać na rynku, zaczął robić kanapki z krewetek w małej szopie. Dziś prowadzi go jego syn Tony.
Jeśli jedziesz do Szkocji koniecznie zobacz Oban.

EnergyPathways #EPP MESH project addresses a problem already costing Britain tens of millions of pounds a day: storing surplus renewable power and returning it when and where the system needs it.
As highlighted by The Guardian, the cost of balancing Britain’s electricity grid recently reached almost £50 million in a single day, as transmission constraints forced the system to curtail renewable generation while paying other generators to produce power elsewhere.
September alone reportedly saw balancing costs reach a record £505 million.
This is the challenge MESH is designed to address.
Strategically located in the East Irish Sea and onshore at Barrow-in-Furness, MESH will provide large-scale, long-duration energy storage (LDES), capturing surplus wind power when the system cannot absorb it and delivering that energy when Britain needs it most.
As renewable generation continues to grow, Britain needs storage infrastructure capable of delivering seconds-to-seasons flexibility for a more secure energy system. Storage is the cornerstone of energy independence and reducing Britain’s increasing reliance on imports.
MESH is designed to provide that capability — helping reduce system costs, improve grid resilience and make better use of Britain’s growing renewable energy resources. The emerging AI sector in Britain can only thrive with secure, reliable and affordable energy.
The economic case for long-duration energy storage is becoming clearer by the day.

#EPP As highlighted in this Channel 4 News clip, the challenges facing the UK energy system are clear.
With UK gas storage capacity a fraction of that across much of Europe, our energy system and economy remain exposed to global price volatility and supply disruption.
Developing long-duration energy storage at scale is critical to both energy security and the UK’s clean energy transition, alongside domestic gas storage.
Greater storage capacity can deliver significant benefits:
- Lower energy costs for households and businesses
- Support Britain’s reindustrialisation
- Reduce reliance on expensive “just-in-time” gas imports
- Harness British jobs, skills and supply chains
- Strengthen national energy security
At EnergyPathways, we recognise the urgency of this challenge and are accelerating our MESH project accordingly.
MESH is designed to address some of the most pressing challenges facing the UK energy system.
Our objective is simple: accelerate MESH towards operation to deliver lower energy costs, strengthen national energy security, and support British jobs, skills, and growth.

This summer’s heatwave highlighted a growing challenge for Britain’s energy system: managing renewable intermittency over days, not just hours.
As renewable generation grows and disruption to international energy supplies persists, Britain needs more domestic flexibility and long-duration energy storage capabilities — rather than relying on imported energy to balance the grid and keep the lights on.
#EPP's MESH is designed for exactly this challenge: 300MW / 55GWh / 100+ hours of storage, capturing surplus energy when it’s abundant and releasing it when Britain needs it most.
MESH will provide unprecedented system flexibility from seconds to seasons — lowering system costs, adding grid stability and strengthening national energy security.

“Clubs everywhere must refuse to play Israeli teams. Current players everywhere must refuse to play against Israeli teams.”
- Eric Cantona
Absolute classic 💥
The plan was simple: a gang of record-obsessed nerds abduct the sounds of The Chemical Brothers, Massive Attack, Nile Rodgers, Bambaataa, Baker, The Bomb Squad and Burroughs, hold them hostage in a deserted warehouse, and don’t let them out until they’ve emerged with one of the most original albums of the 90s.
How to Operate with a Blown Mind takes historic hip-hop, noir disco, murky funk, European electronica, lo-fi trip-hop and British rave culture and welds it together with startling boldness, all held together with hardcore punk paste. It’s dense, dark, cinematic and frequently oppressive, but there’s something exhilarating about the sheer amount of music they’ve managed to cram into it. Big beat, electro, disco, rave, hip-hop, trip-hop, funk and punk aren’t simply thrown into the same pot; they’re smashed together with the titanic explosion of colliding trains. And speaking of which…
Presiding over this glorious racket is a frontman going by the moniker The Wrekked Train, who spews his madness over the whole thing, makes one record and then simply disappears into the ether. Back out on the street, where it goes down, not indoors, in the record stores.
He’s less Johnny Rotten than Johnny from Mike Leigh’s Naked after a vision incision: a paranoid, surrealist street philosopher who’s been let loose inside the sound, delivering deranged monologues as the music mutates through his mind, more potent element within the collage than frontman, as strange and sinister as the samples, scratches and monstrous beats surrounding him.
The result is one of those great melting-pot albums, the ones that make you think the fuckers have got in your head, pulled together so much you’re into and threaded it into something that exciting you wonder how you ever got by without it.
Twenty-eight years later, like the zombies in the movie, it remains a relentless experience.
How to Operate with a Blown Mind? You need to after this.

Last night, Michelle Scrogham MP hosted a dinner in the House of Commons on behalf of EnergyPathways plc on Long Duration Energy Storage (LDES) and the UK's energy security and transition.
Ben Clube, CEO of EnergyPathways, explained our proposed MESH LDES project in the Irish Sea — an integrated compressed air, hydrogen and gas storage scheme with fast response flexibility, multi-day storage and the ability to reduce energy system costs. MESH is set to be the UK's largest LDES project, offering wide ranging benefits to the UK’s future energy system and to the Barrow/Cumbria economy.
Siemens Energy set out why they see MESH as a significant project and its importance for the UK’s energy future, before a wide ranging discussion about the LDES technology landscape, the UK’s policy landscape and the market mechanisms needed to achieve its Clean Power 2030 ambitions and beyond, as well as the potential positive impacts to harness regional jobs and skills.
The Government has designated MESH as a ‘project of national significance’, and it is increasingly deemed a flagship UK energy security project, but some clear asks emerged: accelerate the cap and floor scheme with a rolling investment pipeline, and fix grid and planning bottlenecks specifically for LDES.
Thanks to Michelle Scrogham MP for hosting, and to Lord Alan Whitehead, Lord Walney (John Woodcock), Sir Nic Dakin MP and Team Barrow’s Peter Anstiss, who joined for such a constructive discussion.
Thank you also to our partners Siemens Energy, Jacobs, Costain, Baringa, Zenith Energy and Burness Paull for their expert input.

The supposed 50/50 deadlock on Scottish independence is manufactured, not real.
It is created entirely by an unfit franchise.
Even under current rules, Yes holds a 52% majority.
But apply a true self-determination franchise - even such as the standard the UK applied to the Falklands referendum - and Yes sits at or above 60%.
And that is before a campaign has even started.
In 2014, Yes surged from 28% to 45%.
Imagine where 60% ends up after an active campaign. It wouldn't just win; it would be an undeniable landslide.
Instead of dancing to Westminster's tune and begging for permission, we need to recognise the reality: on any legitimate self-determination measure, *we have already won*.
We are held back as an ancient nation by a franchise the UK wouldn't dream of applying to an overseas territory of 3,000 people!
That franchise is the battlefield.
The UN route pursued by @LiberationScot is how we change it.

#EPP
🇬🇧⚡ THE BIGGER #EPP MESH INVESTMENT THESIS
The UK is undergoing one of the biggest transformations of its energy system in generations.
But there’s a fundamental problem:
Britain doesn’t just need MORE renewable electricity, it needs somewhere to STORE enormous quantities of energy when generation exceeds demand, then return it when the system needs it.
That’s why I believe EnergyPathways’ MESH project deserves attention.
MESH isn’t simply another short-duration battery.
It potentially brings together:
🌬️ Offshore Wind
🔋 Long Duration Energy Storage
💨 Compressed Air Energy Storage
🔥 Large-scale Gas Storage
🟢 Hydrogen Storage
⚡ Grid Infrastructure
🧂 Offshore Salt Caverns
All centred around a potentially enormous geological storage resource beneath the East Irish Sea.
🚨 AND NOW JACOBS $J JOINS THE TEAM
EnergyPathways has selected global engineering heavyweight Jacobs to provide planning, regulatory, consenting and environmental services.
Importantly, Jacobs will assist #EPP with its submission into Ofgem’s forthcoming LDES Cap & Floor round.
Jacobs will also support:
🏛️ Cap & Floor
📑 DCO / consenting
⚡ Grid connection
🤝 Stakeholder engagement
🏭 Regional economic & supply-chain assessments
This isn’t simply another partner announcement.
Jacobs is helping #EPP navigate the pathway towards some of MESH’s most important regulatory and financing milestones.
🔋 THE SCALE
MESH LDES is targeting:
⚡ 300MW
🔋 ~55GWh
⏳ 100+ HOURS
Potentially making it the UK’s largest LDES project.
Why does Britain need this?
More offshore wind means periods where huge amounts of electricity are generated but cannot efficiently be absorbed by the grid.
🌬️ Surplus wind
⬇️
❌ Curtailment
⬇️
💷 System costs
But when wind falls:
🌬️📉 Low renewable generation
📈 High demand
⬇️
⚡ Dispatchable power required
LDES bridges that gap:
🌬️ GENERATE → 🔋 STORE → ⚡ DISPATCH
And MESH is targeting DAYS of storage rather than merely hours.
🧂 BUT THE BIGGER OPPORTUNITY COULD BE THE GEOLOGY
MESH potentially envisages up to 60 salt caverns.
That creates the possibility of THREE major storage markets from one strategic geological hub:
🔋 CAES / LDES
🔥 NATURAL GAS
🟢 HYDROGEN
The proposed gas-storage scale alone is substantial:
🔥 ~600M THERMS
⚡ ~17TWh stored energy
🚀 ~2M therms/day potential deliverability
🇬🇧 MASSIVE ENERGY STORAGE.
That’s why I don’t view #EPP simply as a CAES story.
MESH potentially represents something much bigger:
🧂 A MULTI-ENERGY STORAGE HUB OF NATIONAL STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE.
🌬️ Store the wind.
🔥 Secure the gas.
🟢 Enable the hydrogen future.
🇬🇧 Strengthen Britain’s energy security.
Jacobs joining the team is another significant piece of that puzzle.
The next few catalysts could be very interesting indeed. 👀⚡
