90 years ago this month, Nazis burned books. The books they first burned were the books from the Institute of Sexology, decades of research in transgender medicine and health. History doesn't always repeat, but it certainly rhymes.

this is a great example of copaganda. note that the headline (which is what most people read, no further) doesn’t convey that it was the police doing the chasing and causing the crash; instead, the cop is the baby-comforting hero.

I Don’t know who needs to hear this but local folks have tried every legal channel for years and years to stop this militarized cop training center in their neighborhood and we’re ignored. That is why forest defenders and abolitionists occupied the forest.

Contrary to popular social media belief We do owe each other so so so much. Not in the capitalist way of keeping tabs and attributing monetary value to what we do for one another But in the way of community, collective existence, in the way of we are a people not just a person

Stop offering a honorarium and ask for the person’s rate that they have established for their work. Lots of big dreams to have these multi-layered, large events without a budget. It’s truly an epidemic.

*This* is what the NYPD uses their body cameras for & why cops accept body cams as a supposed reform so often. Instead of being used to monitor the cops, the cops use their body cams to surveil protesters!
Replying to @isabelle_leyva
White Shirt Cheung taking his body cam off of its holster to film the group. Keep in mind that the NYPD has released photos of protesters who they are working to identify related to Saturday’s action at this station.

When charities paid bail for low income people in jail, and they were allowed to prepare for their trial at home, HALF of the cases were dismissed. Why? No evidence. No case. It gets worse...

Jordan Neely's killer, Daniel Penny, is at home on $100K bail, filed by his lawyer who ran for DA on a campaign platform AGAINST suspects being able to stay at home before trial. Interesting how people against bail reform are only against poor people waiting for trial at home.

$350 until we hit $657k on my filter fund to get clean water to communities across the US facing toxic drinking water. My goal for my 16th birthday (On July 6th) is $1M, help me reach that goal. gofund.me/8a72e3d1
Instead of just screaming at and arguing with government officials I came up with a solution, one that gives immediate relief. My goal for my sweet 16 isn’t a car, or a huge party. I want to see my filter hit $1m. gofund.me/a54e35d2

MLK died at 39, Malcolm X died at 39, Walter Rodney died at 38, Frantz Fanon died at 36. Marx was near 50 when he wrote Capital. Sometimes I just wonder how many brilliant and seminal works of theory we could have gotten if Black theorists were not assassinated or died young

Something I appreciate about Toni Morrison’s consideration of community and safety is it doesn’t demand that people love or even like each other, but rather says it’s about not harming others and being willing to help when needed.

If there is any monolithic experience of “the latino” it’s that our many histories are thrust into a colonial white supremacist chaos that is morphed by the specificity of *where we are* and what we carry with us into those spaces across time Beyond that it’s all white lies

A reminder that the state can kidnap and cage you for however long they wish. Maurice Jimmerson has been held in the Dougherty County Jail for a DECADE. He has pleaded not guilty. His jail cell is less than seven miles away from his mother’s home. atlantanewsfirst.com/2023/04…

A comrade in ATL being hit w/ bogus domestic terrorism charges for defending the forest now needs support with basic living expenses while they navigate an oppressive, white supremacist, violent court system we know is stacked against the forest defenders. #StopCopCity V: @wooatl
