Once the strength of a belief crosses a certain threshold it becomes embedded into your identity. Transforms from something you think into something you know. A conviction, an undeniable truth so ingrained into who you are that abandoning it is unthinkable and damn near impossible. Couldn't turn your back on it even for survival.
