Hey, teachers & librarians... Many of you have been asking what our free online summer writing camp, Teachers Write will look like this summer, and the answer is...a little different.
Better, I hope. With more of what you need right now.
Here's what we're thinking... (thread)
#6thchat Did you see this?? Can’t wait to try it!
🖍️ Draw That is finally here!
In this mode, students draw terms from your Kit while everybody else tries to guess what it is. Like Pictionary, but with your content, and for your entire class!

Get those games in and have fun!
#6thchat Thank you @mrskochheiser for your amazing leadership of the #6thchat for all these years! I have been inspired by the topics and have learned so much from this group. You are truly a rockstar!
#6thchat Reading, Poetry, Cooking These are 3 areas that I want to explore more myself...I want to be more intentional about each one...not necessarily for school but for myself which will impact my school life.
#6thchat Understanding, Positive, Open I think that leaders who are open to new ideas & feedback are ideal. They're understanding yet hold you accountable. Positivity is essential too! There is enough negativity out there.
#6thchat A4) I want to help Ss to feel a sense of accomplishment, have fun with the Ss, and help them know that everything is going to be alright.
#6thchat A3) As a learner myself, I have learned there will be bumps and full on detours. I have noticed that when I get frustrated with planning or how I might teach a lesson, I need to walk away & come back with fresh eyes.
#6thchat Listen/Support/Collaborate I have had aTs that I collaborate with who have been a huge blessing to me. I have a colleague that I have listened to & tried to support to the best of my drained abilities.
#6thchat A1) Patience, Flexibility, Determination are my 3 words. I breathe in and out to keep myself sane! But I am determined to do my best for the kids, but remain flexible for what ever comes!
#6thchat I'm Deb. I teach ELA & SS in Lansing, MI. Surprised to still be awake tonight! LOL

How exciting, Michael! You will be fabulous! I see you have Orton Gillingham training! I took a class and did some tutoring using Orton Gillingham too!
#6thchat I agree with you @mrskochheiser, Ss need more access to books and they need to read more. Most families are not using the local libraries & online reading isn't cutting it for them. after all day on the computer. They need books to hold in their hands.
#6thchat I think it has been challenging to keep kids engaged, even for short discussions. I'm trying different things each day to change it up. Sometimes we shout an answer, sometimes whisper, sometimes write in the chat and hit enter all at once for the "reveal".
#6thchat One thing I really like better is my organization of Google Classroom. It is color coded based on our Learning Plan for the Week. I think this has really helped Ss. Also I have one classroom instead of one per subject. Just much more streamlined for SS and me.
