Dear Home Owner,
I want you to pause a little before you build.
The pause can be 1 hour before ground breaking or one week before you sign that contract.
Take a moment.
What if there is a chance you can build a more beautiful, functional and timeless houseβ¦
On the same budget?

What if you could know the cost of your house before you start building?
An ordinary person should be able to adjust the size of the rooms and see how the changes affect the total cost.
I spent time solving this exact problem in the industry.
The era of guessing construction costs will soon end.

A family home design must suit the family who will live in it.
Before you adopt any plan, hold it against your plot and your life:
1. Plot size. Does the footprint fit, with setbacks?
2. Slope. Will the house sit well, or need heavy earthworks?
3. Access. Can lorries and materials reach the site?
4. Lifestyle. Do you need space for a growing family, visitors or a home office?
A good plan on the wrong plot becomes an expensive problem.
On podcity.ke, adopt a style first, then adopt a design that fits. Then use Get Estimates to see the cost.

Retail Building Design Kenya: a two-storey shop terrace with lattice screen balconies and shaded awnings (UB 012, 600mΒ²).
A deep canopy shades a colonnade of shopfronts, with a brick base, pale render above and a furnished terrace beside the parking.

Milton Friedman: βKeep your eye on one thing and one thing only: how much government is spending, because thatβs the true tax.β
βIf youβre not paying for it in the form of explicit taxes, youβre paying for it indirectly in the form of inflation or borrowing.β
Before you break ground, have you got your county approval?
I have seen owners dig a foundation first and ask later. It can mean stopped work, fines or even demolition.
My simple checklist:
1. Approved plans from the county, in your hands
2. Any other permits required for your type of building
3. Ownership documents for the plot, in order
4. Neighbours informed about the work
If a design claims to save money, it must still pass approval. Otherwise the saving is not real.
Adopt a style, then a design, on podcity.ke and use Get Estimates to see the costs for your region.

The wall around your land is the first promise you make to your family: you are safe here.
PoDCity removes the anxiety that usually accompanies that promise. See the full, realistic cost in minutes, then decide when the numbers feel right.
Your future home deserves that kind of clarity from day one.

The Complex is The Angelou - Athena along James Gichuru Road.
"Fundi, we will finish in six weeks."
I hear this a lot. Then the rains come, or a delivery is late, and the date slips.
Here is what I advise: pay for work that has been measured, not for days that have passed.
For example:
1. Foundation complete and inspected
2. Walls up to lintel level
3. Roof structure on
4. Plaster done
Measure each stage together before you pay. Write the milestones into the agreement.
Then the promise and the delivery match, and you are not paying for hope.
Plan your stages from a proper estimate. Get Estimates on podcity.ke gives you a BoQ to work from.

You know the cost of your phone. Your car. Your rent.
You do not know the cost of your own house.
That is the strangest gap in the whole economy, and nobody talks about it.
Change the room sizes. Watch the cost move. That is the whole idea at podcity.ke
What if the cost of your house stopped being a mystery?
An ordinary person should be able to adjust room sizes and see the total shift in real time.
That single change turns fear into a plan you can act on today.

Choose the Cape chestnut, as it is an indigenous tree. It produces spectacular flowers, and its roots are less invasive and its branches less brittle than those of the jacaranda. Oh and it grows faster than Jacaranda too. β at Gikambura, Kenya

The business community needs extension officers like we used to do it in agriculture.
Their role can be to visit a village and map out existing businesses and gaps in the market.
There is nobody who gains by a collapsed business.
Example 2: Retail Building with timber cladding and glazed storefronts.
The proposal appears as a single-storey retail strip that turns an empty roadside plot into a composed, walkable line of shops.
A slightly taller dark-timber volume at the near corner houses the grocery market, its vertical boards wrapping the mass and giving the anchor a distinct, tactile presence.
Cream plaster walls continue the remaining units in a calm, unbroken plane, each identified by a dark timber signage band carrying simple generic lettering.
Spatial organisation follows a clear linear order: shops share a continuous glazed frontage and a covered threshold, so the grocery, bakery, cafe and retail units read as one street rather than isolated boxes.

Let us talk about Retail Shops Design.
Example 01: Retail Building with cantilevered awnings and glazed storefronts.
The massing is low and horizontal, given quiet rhythm by brick piers, slightly stepped parapets and one modest taller volume carrying a simple clock.
The left-hand corner unit, with its larger glazed frontage, reads clearly as the anchoring grocery store. In front, a paved parking and drop-off forecourt leads to a shaded terrace of timber tables and chairs under beige shade sails, framed by brick-edged planters, potted palms and small trees.
