Elissa Slotkin to Bill Maher: “The average person just wants shit to work. I don’t give a shit if you’re a Republican, a Democrat, an Independent—just live in the zone of practicality. And the far right and the far left live in a different universe.”

“Guys get to college and it’s way harder than they think unless your Michael Jordan or Cooper Flagg. 99.9% it’s harder than they think. You either make excuses, quit, transfer, blame others or you get to work and that’s what life’s about,” Mick Cronin

I may be young and dumb, but retirement feels like a scam. My goal isn't to stop working, or to finally do what I want, or to eliminate my sense of purpose and contribution to the world. My goal is to design a life filled with work that I don't want to escape from.

Extraordinary number of ships at #singapore. All bunched up here because of Red Sea disruption to shipping and shifts in way things are being shipped. Fascinating. This is where commerce and geo politics come face to face

Had a great conversation with @hubermanlab, where we tackled important questions about the intersection of personality and emotional intelligence. Here is a simple way to think about it: Personality is our tendency to experience the world a certain way. It drives our preferences. Introverts recharge in quiet spaces and extroverts prefer more stimulation (generally speaking). Emotional intelligence is what we do with our emotions. Highly emotionally intelligent people use their emotions and personality wisely to make the best decisions, have the best relationships, and achieve their goals. Make sure to tune in and to share your thoughts about the conversation.
What is the relationship between your personality and pattern of emotional processing? As told to @hubermanlab by Dr @marcbrackett of @Yale on the Huberman Lab podcast out now.

You don't need to feel motivated every day what you need to do is show up every day. Showing up every day is easier when you genuinely care about and value what you are doing, have a long-term mindset, and work within a supportive community.

Some relevant thoughts on change and disorder. 1. Homeostasis means stability by staying the same. Allostasis means stability thru change. The latter is a better fit model. 2. Getting back to where you were rarely works—as Richard Rohr first said, it's order, disorder, reorder.
